Hello: I just responded to a DVC online survey and one question was listed as: "for a limited time, DCL will relocate one of its ships to the Mediterranean Sea for a series of 7-night cruise vacations". Ports are: Barcelona, Cannes, Livorno (Florence-Pisa), Civitavecchia (Rome); Naples, Barcelona. The next question stated that this will occur in the Summer of 2004. JanDave P.S. We'll be on the Wonder in June, 2003.

Right, lots of folks got the survey. DCL is investigating interest in the different itineraries but nothing official has been announced...yet. :)

It'll be interesting to see how other DVC members interpret the mediterranean cruise statement. The into phrase was "For a limited time, Disney Cruise Line will relocate one of its ships to the Mediterranean Sea..." . The last part of the statement was "guests on this itinerary will take in the sights, history and culture of Europe with access to some of the top European attractions. The statement added a detailed itinerary. The following statement indicated that this limited offer will occur in the Summer of 2004.

Bruce and I have been hoping this DCL opportunity would come along ! We will definitely be using points for this Med cruise !! We have been surprised that there hasn't been more response from this board about this cruise. The Caribbean is wonderful but aren't you guys ready for something different ??:)

I could go for a trip to Alaska or the Mexican Riviera, i.e. Cabo San Lucas, Puerta Vallarta, etc. Keep it in the U.S. We're here (the loyal members of DIS), not in Europe.

I for one, have no desire to cruise Europe. I wouldn't mind Alaska (although I probably couldn't afford it), or a change in the current Caribbean Itineraries.

If and when I cruise Europe it won't be with two teenage boys.

I had every intention of booking an Eastern cruise for June 2004 with Disney.

I'm starting to look at other cruise lines.

Having sailed on every itinerary (Well, the Halloween cruise will do that) We are looking forward toward any itinerary change that DCL would do.

A Mediterranian cruise sounds exotic. Adding the Disney Sparkle to those ancient and well traveled waterways would intice me to take the cruise.

Just for the record, there are quite a few of us loyal DIS members in Europe too!

It will be interesting to see if DCL really would move a ship to Europe. This would be contra to the current cruise trends. Cruise lines all saw a significant drop in cruisers since 9/11. In response, almost all the cruise lines have been redeploying at least some ships closer to the US. The reasoning is that people will feel safer cruising closer to home. Also, some people are more afraid of flying, especially internationally.

Whatever the reason for the change, the cruise industry has gained back a big chunk of the business they lost since 9/11. Redeploying ships near to the US has been attributed as part of the reason for the success. I'm sure economics also play a factor as it has to be cheaper to cruise the Caribbean than to fly to Europe and cruise the Med.

Whoops! Sorry about that TartanFan and all readers out there!

I would like to see Disney build or buy and redecorate a couple more cruise ships and deploy one to the Mediterranean and one to the West coast. I think this would make most happy!
