Hi, everyone.
I'm from the southwest and I've never been on a cruise, either has my girlfriend. I'd like to combine a first cruise and a marriage proposal, but since I have no idea what to expect on a cruise, I need some ideas from you cruise veterans. I've been told that you never forget your first cruise.

I am planning on a 3 or 4 day cruise/WDW combo. I think the whole special cruise, moonlight on the ocean thing would be special for us.

Any suggestions from you cruise veterans?

My husband proposed to me on our first cruise - an Eastern Disney Cruise in 2001.

He proposed to me after dinner near the front of the ship!

You could do it on your first night on the ship after dinner so that she'll have a nice, shiny, new ring to sport on formal night . . . or you can wait and do it on formal night.

Another choice would be after a dining experience in Palo or in Palo!

I'm a huge fan of crowd interaction so if you think she'd like that, maybe you can go to Guest Services and see if Mickey or Minnie can be in on it on a character event in the Atrium.

What a great idea! Truly a cruise of a lifetime. Question - do you want ask her privately or with other people around? If privately, then on deck 10 with the moonlight and ocean breeze. BUT..... if you really want to make a moment to remember, get dressed up, take her to Palo and kneel down while seated (just like in the movies) professing your love in front of the whole world (well, at least Palo). After dinner, get the ships photographer to capture the moment and save it forever!

good luck

I LOVE the Palo idea.. but rather than waiting to get the photographer for after the proposal.. let him/her know ahead of time so they can capture the proposal as its happening.. Now that would be a great picture!!!!

If you opt for the characters helping out.. I would think you should contact the cruise line before hand and let them know and ask what your options are!

Also.. maybe have in the room for your departure a gift basket.. w/say her favorite things... and some champagne and strawberries or chocolates.. the Perfect Gift would totally make something special..

Awesome!!! What a great idea garnet. What a picture to hang on your wall, Proposing on one knee at palo aboard a Disney Cruise.

You have to tell us what happened when you final go through with it.

Sounds beautiful! Now all you have to do is tell us the date of your cruise so we can all witness this special occasion! :lmao:
Oh, and congratulations! :lovestruc

We were on the Feb 12-16 Wonder this year and Valentine's Day was the CCay day, how perfect. I went parasailing with the engagement ring securely tied inside my pocket that morning. ( we often joke that her ring is probably one of very few that has sailed over Castaway Cay ! ) Late in the afternoon on Serenity Bay beach I popped the question. We were almost alone on the beach at that hour. In true Disney magic style, a CM came walking along the beach right after, and we had him take our picture. "Dane" from Australia was the first to knw we had gotten engaged.

Of course, we had dinner at Palo that evening, too. Dane had apparently told the proper people, since they had a "congratulations" cake for us. And, at the CClub reception that afternoon, the cruise director and the captain congratulated us, too.

I was on a double dip in July. When couples were selected for Match you mate, one guy was really going over the top to make sure they were picked. They were. During the first question, he borrowed the Mic and got down on one knee and presented a ring. We all were stunned....very cool
she said - "it is about time"
oh, and they also won match your mate after that
very public if you are into that

I prefer quiet, alone times  , so my vote would be to be proposed to after a romantic dinner at Palo's , but while alone :love2: on our own private verandah with the moonlight shining down on the ocean & the sound of the waves breaking below. pixiedust: What a memory!! :goodvibes

My nephew proposed to his fiance on the Magic last December while cruising with his family. Maybe his mom will write in and give more details - but they went to Palo together for dinner, then down to the secret balcony at the back of deck 7 and proposed there. Afterwards they found the rest of the family in their usual rotation dining and told the proposal story and showed the ring, with great celebration from servers and other cruisers.

How cool and congratulations!! My husband proposed on the stern of the Queen Mary since we both love ships. You picked a great place!!! :thumbsup2

The first thing that comes to mind to me is the treasure hunt on CC. If you can pre-arrange with the cast members to have the ring at the end of the hunt.

What about on the secret deck on deck 7 just the 2 of you have mickey and minnie show up with a photographer and then propose! I saw a wedding there and thought it was just FABULOUS!

We saw a wedding there also and it was the perfect spot with the characters and all. If it was me I would like the ring early on in the cruise so I could wear it everywhere I went.

Find out the schedule of Mickey and Minnie pictures in the atrium. When you get up to Mickey, say to him "hey Mickey, can you help me make a dream come true?" and get down on one knee and ask the question to her. That way, you'll get a great picture with you on your knee and have Mickey in the shot! :thumbsup2
