"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

you can take the bus, I read it on a thread somewhere will see if I can find it, one suggested water taxi to North Vancouver then a bus up to the Cap.

Here is what I am finding take a seabus from the waterfront station to Lonsdale Quay, there you can transfer to a bus. You can get planning information here on but routes and such http://tripplanning.translink.bc.ca/hiwire

hope that helps!
Thanks, I wonder if that is doable in a late afternoon? We arrive around 11 by the time we get to the hotel and catch up with our friends it will be late afternoon. Is the water taxi near Pan Pacific?

looks like the water taxi leaves from right near the Pan.

Here's something else i found in my notes that might be helpful to you

Map; showing the route up the #236 bus to Grouse Mtn (and Capilano Bridge)

For those looking to go to Grouse Mountain and/or Capilano Suspension Bridge.

I've read mention of a free shuttle to Grouse Mountain from downtown area hotels. Capilano Suspension is on the same road, so it might stop there as well. Worth someone looking into.

Heading to Vancouver for the weekend. Possibly going to go to the Aquarium.

We booked our excursions yesterday. Today I had my master's thesis approved so that is finished!! :cheer2: Now I can get working on magnets and FE gifts. I can't believe how close we are.

Congrats! My husband JUST finished his last month so this is like a celebration cruise for him. I know you feel relieved! He has no idea what to do with all his spare time. I could give him a list lol

Thanks for all the welcome messages. We are getting a bit excited here. :) I see you posting about FE - I'm just trying to learn the board lingo, so for knowledge what is it?

Thanks!

Wen

57 and cloudy in Skagway today!!! Wet bike ride!!

FIY: If you look to the left on the rocks, you can see white paint. The visiting cruiselines have painted their logos on the rocks. It'll be interesting to see if DCL has done one.

Unfortunately, it looks like we are docking in the berth over, so it'll be about a 10 minute walk over to look. There is also a stream that you can see salmon upclose going to spawn - really neat to see and free.

I saw a post somewhere on the boards with a picture of th rock painting by DCL...it was pretty cool

Yes there is a Disney Wonder one and they finished it within the last week or two. There are ones on that wall going all the way back to the 1920's. Mind you most of them (not the Wonder one) are inside the security area for whichever cruise ship is in dock there, so you may not be able to get in close.

Now we did approach, and they wouldn't let us in until we explained why we were there politely. Then they just asked us to wait until the ship there had finished loading up all their excursions and the White Pass rail trains had left. So you may get in there if you're extra nice about it. It was fascinating to see. :)

You're renting a car in Skagway? ;)
Yes we are renting a car and driving the Souern Klondike Highway to Emerald Lake. I thought we would do the suspension bridge on the way, ust becasue it is on the way. It is 18.50 for an adult and 13.50 for kids. If you do not think itis worth it, we may consider just driving by.

FE is fish extender. If you recall on the left side of your cabin door there is a pewter "Fish" thst they use to leave event tickest and info. We all have made/bought these hanging pockets/bags and we hang it from the fish..Hence "Fish Extender" Then we sign up and exchange gifts with each other. Here is a link of some stuff people have exchanged.

I'm impressed, then. :)

The one in Skagway is really a non-event. Especially in comparison to just looking at the website for the one near Vancouver. Walked across it and back, as there's literally nothing other than a small deck on the other side, then spent most of the time there sitting in a public seating area next to a snack shop. The views are nice but you'll get those just driving around up there.

Did you find your Pirates shirt that you and Nancy bought at the Disney Outlet?

Good Morning All
To day is a special day for our family. Today we will be celebrating Nancy's dad 91st Birthday .
The whole family will be getting together at our oldest sons house for an outside Lobster cookout with clams and corn on the cob. And of course Ice cream and cake.
