"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

in case I haven't said I can not explain how happy I am that my AMAZING SON is joining me on this cruise!!!

I'm still here, just busy busy busy! Over the next three weeks we have two weddings and a graduation...between that, work and the general business of life, I keep forgetting to check in here. I do try to keep up with the FB crowd, sometimes life just gets away from me...

We are still in prep mode. I was originally trying to get things little by little to save a giant shopping trip right before the cruise but now that we're getting down to the wire and I still have lots to do, I fear it's inevitable! Still need another suitcase, a few new formal shirts and ties for DH, shoes for me and DH and an airline harness for DD. That's the short version of the list.

BUT....I got some serious Kohl's coupons in the mail, so I may go in search of some deals this weekend.

After the wedding. Shoot. I guess I need to get the bride and groom a present...

I'm here too. Been working and still doing some sewing for DD. Her last day of school was Monday and she woke up yesterday with a cold......that I now seem to be coming down with as well. All hail Nyquil!
Kim

We are in serious planning mode now trying to decide what to bring to wear. We are bringing only one rolling duffle bag and our carry ons so packing efficiency has become a must. I have found compression bags that are going to help with the bulky things like fleece jackets and vests. This is turning out to be more challenging than I originally thought but seriously I cannot wait we leave in 55 days.

Sorry to hear that Kim. Feel better soon! I'm virtually crippled. I can't stand for more than 5 minutes and bending hurts incredibly. I went to the chiropracter because my back and sciatic nerve were both bothering me and now I hurt even more. Some week off I'm having. I went from thinking the kids would be home every day to them going to the local sports arena all afternoon yesterday, a party today and tomorrow they want to go back to the sports arena. I should be getting lots done around here, but I can't bend down. At least I went through all of my DD's clothes. Next on to DS's closet.

I know that some said that they needed fleece jackets on the earlier cruise, but do you really think we'll need them in August? It should be somewhat warmer. I can't do any of my shopping until the beginning of August. All my clothes are too big now and if I shop too early they will be falling off of me then. I have to have an idea of what I want to get along the way, so that I can get it quickly.

We are planning on doing the same thing. I am not sure what we will do about formal night though.

Oh no...feel better soon.

ON MY....My name is not Weiner, but I truly have been hacked. Seems my son must have gotten on my new lap top and posted that message about himself. I gotta watch that guy!~;)

Go get a massage....???!!!

I felt better today. Ashleigh left me alone this am and I slept until 0845!!

No formal stuff here. Just some black pants and a nice top. We florida whimps are going to need warm clothes!!

It should be somewhat warmer but it will still be cool near the glaciers.

We are in Seattle so are semi acclimated but right now my plan is to bring a shell, a fleece and a rain jacket for each of us. I'll be happy if we don't need any of it, and that's possible, but I'd rather be prepared. We're still using all of them here still at times so it may not be any different than the weather is right now. UGH.

The kids will also probably bring a sweatshirt if they want but might get by with just a fleece, or just a sweatshirt. I doubt they need both but they may want both and I think we will have room. REI is having a good sale so I'm getting the kids a few new things now. They'll need them for fall anyway (outgrowing or lost what they had in some areas) so I figure I might as well get them for the cruise.

I'll put my two cents worth in here for what its worth. Knowing that we were doing this cruise this year I watched the weather in Skagway all last summer. It never got above 60 degrees all summer last year there. I know that we are planning on at least one fleece jacket each and sweetshirsts for layers and a lightweight nylon jacket/raincoat for wind breaker.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask away. I hope you will join us. There are 14 families playing right now. Let me know if you are interested in playing.:goodvibes:grouphug:

We are flying into Seattle and spending a day then taking Amtrak. Will the weather be cooler in AUgust there?

Hi,

The cut off date is going to be a month before hand which is July 23rd. I hope that you are able to join us :goodvibes, but can understand if you can't since you are already doing FE the week before.

Thanks, Vicki

Morning Everyone:wave2:

I just wanted to let those playing FE know that this past week, we have had some additions to the FE list. Also, Dee (1 DisneyQueen) has added her grand daughter to her stateroom for FE.

We have 21 families playing so far. Just as a reminder, July 23rd is the cut off date for FE. If you are not on the list and are interested in playing, please let me know and I will ad you to the list.:thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

Vicki

Hard telling. Could be in the 60's, could be in the 80's. Chances are it'll be very pleasant, but evenings get cool. August is our one good month.....
