"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

I just found this thread now that I am starting to plan for August 23 Alaska. I wanted to add myself to the list and hopefully get to meet some of you. I am traveling with my family (DH, DS11, DD9 and DD7). Would love for them to meet other kids - if anyone is interested. My kids don't love the clubs (go figure??) but they love Disney Cruising. We have late dining and are on deck 2.

When I have some time I will try to read the thread to get up to speed. I

Welcome. I added you to the first page, just did not have your first name.

I would love it more if you were onboard to introduce us.:rotfl2:

I am so glad you had a great time. What excursion did you do. I have booked or planned all private excursions, but I want to know if they are worth it.

I only did the White Pass train ride (the one where you don't get off) in Skagway...that was about all the 'action' I could take! :rotfl:

Dining: In Juneau friends had lunch at Tracy's Crab Shack and loved it. (and it is a shack...)

I have rented a car in skagway and am planning to drive to Emerald Lake in the Yukon.

In Juneau we booked a private whale watching and Mendehall Glacier Parl

In Ketchikan we booked a private tour to see the rain forest, totem park, pick wild berries and so on.

Have you heard of any of these from other folks?

Are you doing the whale watching with Harv & Marv? Our group loved them!:thumbsup2

Remember to take your PASSPORTS on your Skagway drive since you will be crossing into Canada!

Glad to see some activity on here!!!!

Welcome to the newbies!!!

Just back from Orlando, we never got out of the hotel! To be sl close and not see WDW- torture!!!!

They want us all to come back in August for budget workshops- August 15th - 19th!!!! I said nooooooowe are leaving for Vancouver at 5am on the 20th!!!!!! Way to close for me. After my excusion Friday- left Orlando at 7pm for the 48 minutes flight to Panama City--- circled panama city for about 45 minutes. Due to Thunder storms we were then sent to Jacksonville, sat on the ground for over an hour. Finally got to Panama city around 11pm!!! I could have driven it faster!!

No with captain Jack. I had read great reviews about him too.

Passports are on my packing list for that trip. I also bought a mile by mile guide and am very interested in using that as well.

OMG:scared1: Glad you made it home sae and sound! I, too, am excited to see more action here. Was begininning to wonder if moving drve folks away.

Excited to finally be in double digits. Lots of planning done yesterday. Booked 2 harbor view rooms at the Pan Pacific for Monday night. Pricey, but excited to be so close. We are hoping to be on the ship early. Also booked the return flights...Leaving Vancouver at 12:30 on the 30th. Now we just have to figure out transportation from the airport to the hotel and from the pier (thinking car service--limo--for the 6 of us) and excursions.

Thanks for the greetings! I am excited that so many of you have kids. I hope that we can get them to meet. I would like to join the Fish Extender group if still possible. We are in 2094 and whichever room connects to it. We also have late dinner. My name is Ellyn.

I am trying to plan a fishing trip for my DH and DS. I read on the question for early Alaska cruisers thread about Chinok fishing tours in Ketchikan. I looked on their website but you need 4 people. Anyone out there interested in joining - need 2 more. Or do you know of any other good fishing operators.

My son would love to go but the four of us would be like 700.00 and that's with out license and processing and shipping. You can buy a lot of fish for 700.00!!! How much did you find it for?

Their website says a 4 hour charter is $150/person. Includes free shuttle snacks and beverage. You can read more about it at www.chinookshores.com

While I am sure my boys will send some fish home I think the actual act of fishing and catching is what they enjoy. They aren't big fish eaters - go figure :confused3

Hmmmm I will have to run it by my hubby....my son would love it... my DH really doesn't fish (I do) but I have no desire to be on a 28 foot boat with a bunch of men smelling like chum bait...lol I will let you know what he says!

This will be the first cruise for our younger boys (older kids not coming) so I've no idea if they will like the clubs or not. I suspect they will, but only because there is the tween club. If not, the older one would have no interest. We will see. They will be 10 (almost 11) and 12 at the time of the cruise. we also have late dining.

Let us know what you find for transport from the airport to Pan Pacific. We have to make that trip on Sunday morning and it's one of the few things we haven't figured out yet.

Great to see so much activity on the boards! Welcome to the new cruisers. I can not belive it is getting so close. :dance3: It really has not sunk in yet.
Joanne glad you finall made it home. Tommy was asking what you were doing in Jacksonville. :lmao: I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time in the outlook cafe.

I posted this question on the planning thread. So far the suggestion has been just to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel for ~$35-$40. With 6 of us, we are considering a limo since we would need 2 taxis. I think I read somewhere :confused3 in all of my research that we could get a limo for somewhere around the same price as 2 taxis and thought that might be fun for the kids.

I have also read about the skytrain, but it seems like a lot of hassle with luggage and when you price it out pp, it is about the same as taking a taxi.

I think for us, it is a matter of choosing a car service. I will let you know if I find a good deal.

Please let us know what you find. WE are planning on taking a cab but it the price is not much different then we may get a car service. We will be getting into Vancouver late on Sat night.

I was wondering if someone who is already able to book excursions (I'm not till next week) could tell me what times are listed for the these excurisions

Ketchikan-Kart Expedition and Bear County and Wildlife

Skagway-Best of Skagway and Evening wildlife expedition.

thanks very much. Trying to plan before Tuesday night so I'm prepared.
