DCL House Parties are Back! *** PLANNING THREAD ***

LOL ok, that must have been the folder that my mother in law snatched to read!!! LOL

I know- I've already had 2 people who can't come because of the game! I also have not received my box yet!

that's exactly what i am afraid of, my brother went to the game in norman last wk and took my DD so.....i hope he does not want to go again.

the fedex guy drove by and did not stop :confused3 still no box....maybe tomorrow. maybe i will email hp for a tracking #.....

Thanks everyone for posting the ocntents of the party pack. I have not received mine yet or spent time planning since I wanted to check out the pack first for theming purposes. I just stumbled across this discussion today and was so excited. I have not had a chance to catch-up on all the posts but I'm hoping some of the party planning veterans will share their decorating ideas along with refreshment ideas. Anybody want to share...:confused3

I got my package from DCL houseparty today and while it has lots of cool gifts for the host, I am a little disappointed with the give aways for the guests. My party will be for a group of adults and crayons, coloring puzzles, make your own frames, and tattoos aren't really going to impress them with how adult oriented a Disney Cruise can be. I think the prints of the boats would be more likely to inspire them to book a cruise ... do you think Disney would mind if I copied a set to give to my guests .. yeah I know the answer to that one

Our local grocery stores will do our baloons for a small fee. Much cheaper than buying the tank.

My hubby suggested trying a grocery store. Looks like you're in my general area. Do you just go to Publix or Kroger to have them blown up? I thought that if I bought flowers from them, then they'd probably blow them up for me.

When we did my sons birthday and baseball party we bought 2 mylar baloons at publix and asked them to fill 24 others of a color they didn't have (bought at the party store). They charged me an extra $2/dozen. Our Kroger isn't as, well, 'nice' about stuff like this...

Ok - got my box. It was crushed and the one side was ripped open... Lots of damage... (totem pole broken in half, cd cracked, yard sign ripped - apron missing, no pin and the napkins were wet) :( So, I am disappointed and hoping that houseparty / Disney can help me out...

Contact them..I did today when I got mine because I had the same kind of damage when the Fed Ex guy dropped it off! I was NOT happy...BUT I did contact them at help@houseparty.com and they are sending replacement stuff out right away!! I took pics of the things that were damaged to show them also.

I totally Agree! We don't have kids and the majority of my friends don't have kids either! I love a couple of the items they sent but I would have send some items to show off the Spa! Oh Well I can improvise and its going to be epic!

I don't see that as a problem, you are not SELLING the prints, just giving them to people at the party that Disney is sponsoring. I may have 2 children at my party, but I don't think they will make it. Since all my guests are past cruisers, we are going to have fun talking about the past crusies and getting pumped up for the upcoming ones. Some food, some beverages (adult and other), pictures, I think it will be fine.

Since I haven't looked at it, what's on the CD? I guess I should look at the brochure books, too!

The CD is very nice! DJ Rick section is a tad bit long but it is entertaining!

As far as the Party Tokens...Does the guest get 1 Pack or do we open each pack and give each guest 1 token? It says to pass it on to your friends and get 20 more chances to win? Are they passing on tokens? I am confused!! Help!

I agree that the tokens are confusing - go to the website with the rules, i believe it is:
tokens.houseparty.com/rules/disneycruiseline
They say each person can actually enter 21 times - BUT, only 1 of those can be a real Token code - the other 20x would come from sending the emails of 20 friends out... and you then get a virtual code (token).. so, to me, it looks like each person should only have ONE piece of paper (actual token) , not a pack of them, since they are only supposed to enter once with a real token code...

But, i don't know how well it's all tracked either...

But, then again, they gave us so many sealed packs -- 15 sealed packs --would indicate to me, that each guest gets a sealed pack... which would be 5 real tokens.. i am confused as well...

I am confused about the token packs as well. Even after reading the instructions and reading the posts here and looking online. If anyone can decipher it for us and post it, that would be great!
On another note, I must say that getting the package was a highlight of my family's day yesterday! DH has not been overly enthused about hosting this and after going through all the stuff, he is definitely onboard!! LOL!
:rotfl:

Sorry to hear that people are getting boxes that are damaged. Hopefully Disney & houseparty.com will ship out new items. My box wasn't taped very well. The box that we got for the Wizards of Waverly Place House Party were definitely packaged better. I wish I could remember if they came from the same place.

Thanks for the feedback on the tokens! I just want to make sure that I set proper expectations to my attendees!

I agree the box being delivered and all the cool contents was definitely a dose of pixie dust on the day! Even my Hubby was like cool!

Fed Ex just stopped by. My box corners were damaged and some of the tape was cut open, but everything was in the box. I love the totem pole. :yay:
I'll go thru the rest of the box in a bit. The one thing that I was disappointed in, and it's a really small thing, the napkins are not wrapped they are just in the box loose. :confused3

M napkins were all over the place as were my balloons and the tattoos. The suitcase looking deal that was holding the host gifts was crushed,Mickey's ear is broken off and the dvd case is cracked in half.I thought that USPS were always bad about handling packages ... but my Fed Ex one looked worse than any USPS I have seen so far..LOL

My house party box was waiting for me when I got home last night... the kids and I tore into it... and we were very excited about the contents! The only thing I didn't see was any information on the onboard credit... did anyone else find the info on that? What I really liked is that we can reuse many of the things for our cruise - the banner and the door magnet... awesome party pack!!!

No OBC. I myself never saw any party pack content list that showed we would be getting an OBC. The only thing I saw was something to the effect of "Special Host Gift" which others (and myself) were hoping was an OBC. The special host gift ended up being the Totem Pole.

Last year's party pack included an OBC.
