Why are there so few Dream itineraries in Europe for 2023? There is only 1 Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona in the time that school is out and that one is thousands more than the Mediterranean cruises used to be. Hopefully, it is only for 2023 and they will go back to having more date options for 2024.

I count 15 European itineraries next year, including 3 Mediterranean cruises (2 with the same itinerary): https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...023,august-2023,september-2023,europe-cruises

The per-night cost for 4 people on the 7-night Med cruises leaving from Barcelona next year are about the same as the current per-night cost of the 6-night cruise leaving from Barcelona this week. I'm not sure what the fares were like for the earlier Med cruises this year.

The Dream is in Europe all summer. I know the DCL website is finicky and doesn't show all of them for me, so I add more filters to see them, by month, length of cruise, departure port, etc.

Only 1 of those (the July one) is when most people will be out of school on that particular sailing and the Verandah rate is $11k plus. There are more in the middle of summer this year for less than that.

You are answering your own question - as in why the cruise on that particular date is so expensive.

This year has a ton of guarantee rates due to people cancelling cruises due to Covid restrictions. I know we switched to a US based cruise back in December and our 8 NT June Greek Isles cruise was originally 11K for an Oceanview for 4 adults on opening day on the Magic. Verandahs were starting at 15k when we booked last year. This summer's prices aren't a good comparison to next year right now due to the current state of the world.

I'm guessing it's purposely done this way so that they have not just Med cruises during summer prime time, but also offer options for western Europe, northern Europe, etc. At the end of the day, there's only one ship in Europe all summer, so adding a second Med cruise in July/August would mean removing another European destination. Not everyone has Med as their first choice and many may have done a Med cruise already and would prefer something else.

The European cruises have always tended to move from the Mediterranean to further north in July and August. I assume because it’s unpleasantly hot in the Mediterranean then.

Yep. It was cheaper to rebook Norwegian Fjords with an IGT than used my 10% discount from my placeholder. Every cruise this summer has some bargain basement (for Disney) pricing. Not at all a good comparison.

Next year looks comparable to prices this year when they were first released. The ship always moves from the Med mid July so that doesn’t seem any different than normal.

It was the opposite up until 2018.

We’ll probably see the same thing next year. I’m in no hurry to book.

I think they've learned a few things along the way. Personally I wouldn't book a N. Europe cruise in May, and I definitely wouldn't want to be in the Med in July or August, and I suspect that the weather has a lot to do with their decision.

This is what happens when they only have one ship in Europe for the summer season. I hope that will change in years to come.
