DCL & DVC Points Question

If you wanted to use points to cruise, can you bank & borrow or have points transferred in? Is there any restriction on that?

I know there are limited DVC points/cabins to use in this manner; I'm just wondering what the rules are right now.

We used points to cruise and I did bank points to have enough.

Also, I did reserve our cabin 18 months out. I did not have all the points needed at the time of booking but, I would have them at the time of cruising.
