Ok so I know we are legally married before we board the ship. I want to know specifically what happens in that little dark room with no windows in the cruise terminal. Do we just sign the marriage license there? Is it like a justice of the peace thing? Do we actually say I DO there?

Previously I thought it would be like sneaking off to the bathroom and quietly doing whatever we are required to do and blowing it off as though nothing happened. After our site visits - I am now under the impression that its a bit more than I expected. I was told that it would really hit me that its the real deal and that I would be disappointed I was doing it in a small dark room with no windows.

Can any previous brides please tell me about their experience.

Thank you!!!!!

Small dark room with no windows? Who told you that? It's not an interrogation! :lmao:

I believe that you and DF would go to the place right in front of the Walt Disney Theater (where his huge wall mural is) and you have to say your vows then sign the marriage license prior to sail away.

:lmao: that made me laugh.

Everywhere online it says a back room of the cruise terminal. Mulitple people told me it was a dark depressing room with no windows...

The lounge in front of the theater would be so much more romantic! (in comparison to the cruise terminal anyway..).

So I guess its not a big deal then. How do you feel about it?

Unless they have changed things , as I understand it, it is in the terminal building ...not sure it is as depressing as you have had it made out to you, though. :confused3

- from what I undersatand it is deliberately 'low key' (a better term I think) so that you can really feel that your 'big day' is simply that ...after all you don't really want to feel you have two wedding anniversaries to celebrate do you ?!:headache:

.....can Cathy not confirm the venue for you ?

When the civil wedding ceromony is performed, part of that will entailing you saing 'I do'...so technically you will be married before leaving shore......really how you handle this is all down to your own feelings and perception of events - it is about how you feel about this not anyone else.

Some may see the CC ceromony as an extension and further celebration of this 'basic' wedding....making the whole cruise itself the wedding cermony ineffect.

... some may completely ignore the technicalitiy side, because afterall its more about the big day, and big event, and two people coming together to marry is a heck of alot more than all the boring bitsy law stuff...

.....some may see the CC cermony as no more than an expensive blessing ....

...or anything in between these views...

......there's no right or wrong answer, because its how YOU feel that counts and not anyone else !!!!!

On the positive too, at least you are guarenteed to be married when you return from the cruise !!

Best of luck with your plans !

Someone on here posted pictures awhile ago of a ceremony in front of the Mural outside the theater, but I forget who it was. Maybe they will pop in here and post it again...or anyone who has allready done it. I am sure someone has a picture of this happening.

Lisa's ceremony is in the Passporter book..it is done right in front of the Walt picture'

Just to add..our legal ceremony was done at a courthouse with a piece of tulle draped over the fire alarm..I will forever remember our legal ceremony as a precious moment between the 2 of us..It doesn't matter what the room looks like..it is the words you say to each other...

Leiana just got back from her wedding and her TR said the ceremony was on the ship infront of the Theater.

Yup they do take you to the spot infront of Walt Disney Theatre. It's a large space so no worries about a dark room in the cruise terminal. They even make it nice by setting up some pedestals with flowers (fake ones), roping off almost the entire area and putting up signs (private function in progress) at all 3 entrance locations to the area so it's more personal and private.

I wish I had photos to share but you saw Lisa's photo a couple posts up. Mine would've been roughly the same.
