DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

My TA reached out to DCL and they told her I could not bring one bottle of wine and three beers (because being the PITA that I am, I asked her that question :rolleyes1)-- that it was either wine OR champagne OR beer. Silly.

They also told her that they would be collecting bottles of hard liquor purchased in ports and they would be returned the night before disembarking. So we can all party hard before they kick us off the ship the next morning. pirate: (I'm kidding. I'm kidding.)

Take it for what it's worth...

Quantify not many vs a lot. Even so, how does that relate to the fact that, when OP booked, rates had already risen from $6 to $9 despite what she thought?
She said she didnt read about it on the boards probably because not that many people sail with babies so you didnt have 50 page threads on the issue. That was my point. She said she didnt know it had ever been 6.00 dollars.

they delivery the duty free purchases the night before so that would make it sound right.
thanks for the update.

We usually sail the 2nd week of October (DW school's fall break); but this year, we decided to hit the W&FF at EPCOT :drinking:instead for a week +. Boy am I glad, we made the switch.

I can only imagine how long it will take to go through the security checks to get into the Terminals. I suspect they will be checking all carry on luggage very carefully (& time consuming). As others mentioned I'm sure Guest Services will be hit hard with unhappy cruisers. :guilty:

Hoping DCL will implement some sort of resolution before these cruises. If not, I wish those cruising in the first few weeks of October, Good Luck & have lots of patience.

No, she said she thought it was $6.

Schmoo even knew the exact date it changed: a year before pp booked.

The biggest difference as I can see between the two situations seems to be how DCL handled the situation. Nursery rates were announced and hadn't increased in some time. Alcohol policy changed fast and with no apparent underlying reason.

I hate it when discussions get so meta even I can't follow them.

Holy cow! I totally missed the 'OR'... I kept thinking 2 bottles of wine AND 6 beers. Meaning that DH will be ok, but I'm still bitter that I can't bring on a bottle of Rumchata!

I have a feeling PATs will become more set-in-stone as a way to filter people through security. Security on Carnival got to be too much, with them checking flats of water and shaking every bottle people were carrying on, which led to them banning water and soda. The more people try smuggle, the longer and more complicated the security process will become.

You said you never knew it was 6.00. I was quoting you. My comment was made in jest I didn't mean to make an issue out of it. Good grief and Good Bye.

I'm having Deja vu... as mentioned, they tried this back in 2011... any chance we can all rally and blow up their email to get this changed back... AGAIN!?!?

DCL is seriously more expensive than other cruise lines... and I get that it's not apples to apples, but for those of us who have been loyal customers (6 cruises in 9 years), and have kids aging out (14 & 18), it wasn't going to take much for us to book elsewhere next time.

This is a big deal to us. Proverbial "straw."
Unless our income changes dramatically (lottery anyone?)... I don't see us on a DCL ship again. So sad.
