DCL - Cabin changes

I have an upcoming cruise next month on the Wonder. I (and other passengers) have been notified that they are changing cabin assignments from this to that. Usually a small upgrade in category. I have never had this happen on any cruise (DCL or other lines). Is this a typical thing now? (not guarantee reservations either)

They're probably moving rooms for one of two reasons.

1. You were in the quarantine area, which appears to be deck 2.
2. They need to balance the workloads of the stateroom hosts or they need to balance the lifeboats.

Moves like that weren't very common before Covid, though. I'd be fairly annoyed if I paid full price for the room that I wanted and then had to move, too.

My group was moved twice; same deck, same category, moved from a non-connecting room to a connecting room. Fortunately, we were still on the same side of the boat.

It has been frequently reported that they are moving guests (sometimes with an upgrade) since the restart. While most often for guests with inside staterooms, there have also been reports of upgrades up to a 4A.

No explanation has officially been given but the theories proposed by @Kwami seem the be the logical ones.

Interesting.
I was personally moved from 7 obstructed to 6 non obstructed
the others my travel party from 7 to 6, same catagory
But, some reporting on outside group they got inside, to outside. From outside to veranda.
