I thought I'd just about talked DH into doing a 3 day cruise (I thought it would be a nice surprise for the kids and a good introduction to crusing), but he's now said he's worried about what would happen if a hurricane hit which I guess is likely in August.

Does anyone know what happens in this event? Is the cruise cancelled? Are we covered by insurance if it is cancelled etc etc??

Is August a really bad time to do a cruise?

We're already booked for next August! Last year (which was uncharacteristically bad) saw no cancellations, although itineries were altered if ports weren't accessible & at one point they departed from somewhere further south rather than Port Canaveral. I believe DCL compensated many people (good discounts etc.) & some people even had longer cruises than originally planned! It is worth remembering that bad weather can hit any time of year. We took our first cruise in Dec (also 3 day to get a taste) & very nearly did not make Castaway Cay because of the weather, but even then the stabilisers remove 90% of the roll so we didn't suffer with any seasickness.

I have done the cruise twice and I will be going again this Aug. I have never had a problem with Hurricanes. It has never even crossed my mind.
:goodvibes
