DCA through GC

From what I understand only people staying at GCH can go through for the first hour that entrance is open. After that, it's free game ;)

We go through that entrance all the time! :)

Love the Disneyland Hotel!! Be sure and request Sierra Tower! :earsboy:

We've never slept at the GC, but we use their entrance to DCA frequently, usually to eat at Whitewater snacks, or have a drink by the fireplace at Hearthstone... They do not ask for room keys, you should have no problem.

 Have fun!!!

We've never been asked for a room key and have stayed there and at DL. For price we prefer DL. Be sure to ask for Sierra Tower. It is the most convenient.

The last time we were at DCA a couple of weeks ago they were asking if you were a guest to use the side entrance. My husband LIED, which surprised me and said we left the room key with another family member in the hotel, which was not true since we were all together and we were not staying the night. I don't know if they would of made us turn around and trek around to the front. I don't know if it was just the elderly guy being a stickler but there were maybe 5 cast members checking bags and scanning tickets, more than usual I think. It was not crowded and it was in the afternoon. I wonder if this is a new policy. We love whitewater snacks and prefer that entrance over the main one. I guess I will hunt down my old Disneyland hotel key to bring with us next time and keep the paradise pier key when we stay there. We stayed at the GCH and didn't think it was anything special. The key was very bland and I threw it away.

We stayed there in July and they turned away people who were not staying at GC and making them use the front entrance. This was early in the morning so I'm not sure what they do the rest of the day.

We stayed at GC in August and used the entrance many times over our 4 days there and were never asked if we were guests of the GC. It would have been possible to stay at the DLH and go into the GC through the Downtown Disney entrance and go through the GC lobby and to the GC entrance into DCA.

There seems to be some debate on this. Apparently, there has always been a sign saying that the FIRST ENTRY is reserved for DLR quests. It was not enforced very often but now appears to be. So for all other guests, their first entrance of the day must be through either CA Adventure Or Disneyland Main Gates. After that, you can still hop from CA Adventure into and out of Grand Californian Hotel. This probably is tied in with the closing of the PPH entrance into CA. Since PPH guests now are encouraged to walk to the GC and use that "exclusive" entrance, they probably needed to make it more enclusive to seem like a perk.

We went 9/25 through 10/1, stayed at the PPH, and went in and out of that entrance constantly, at various times of day. We were ALWAYS asked if we were a guest of one of the DL resorts, and always had to show our room key.
