DCA slammed on Simpsons

Last night's episode of the Simpsons included a visit to a maximum security prison (Campbell's Chunky Soup Maximum Security Prison to be precise)..Marge wondered aloud whether this was such a good place to bring the kids. Lisa answered that at least it was better than their trip to Disney's California Adventure. Bart immediately agreed and then Marge and Homer agreed that was true as well.

Man- how bad must it be for it to be worthy of a slam like that on the Simpsons? What a testimony to the failure of the current management.

I laughed at that one, and these days it's been hard to get a laugh from the Simpsons.

A few weeks ago, there was a reference to DCA on the West Wing. It was the one where Sam is deciding to run for the congressional seat. Josh is talking to Amy in his office and Amy says:

Any Congressman complaining...Will be smoothed over if the President sends a top lieutenant, still shining from victory, on a suicide mission to Disney's California Adventure."

I think you have to consider that the source (the networks that run both the Simpsons and the West Wing) is Disney/ABC's competition, taking an opportunity to trash DCA.

There has to be some element beyond just nasty competition to make a crack like this-otherwise it would just fall flat...example, supposed they said Disneyworld or Disneyland instead of DCA??? it does not work...DCA must be pretty awful for the writers to feel like this joke had enough truth to say it to a national audience.

Well put...

But how about when Sam congradulated the head of the party in California and asked him where he was going to go, he said Epcot. The lady then remarked, "Epcot?" I think it was in the same episode or in the following one.

The Simpsons are always taking shots at Disney. Remember Itcy and Scratchy world? It was full of little refrences to wdw and Disneyland. :p

True, but at least in the Itcy and Scratchy version, some enhancement and satire was needed to make the point. With DCA, they just outright compared it to a prison, by name.

Well isn't it?
How much more criticism does it take?
Maybe the prez next will say its a POS theme park, maybe in the next episode of 24 they will have DCA in it as ground zero of the nuke.....;)

OMG!! That's worse than the Simpsons joke!
They can rename their signature ride "Soarin' over Radiation!"

Don't forget about the Simpson's trip to Duff World.

Lisa and Bart went on a ride with Aunt Patty and Aunt Selma and that ride looked suspiciously similar to It's a Small World.

"Duff Beer for me,

Duff Beer for you...

I'll have a Duff,

You have one too."

(Repeated ad nauseum)

*edited for horrible spelling*

The joke I'm hearing a lot is DCA brought in more money when it was a parking lot.

Well, Disney wanted a low budget park and they got what they wished for.

Getting bashed by the Simpsons is nothing to care about, over the last 3 years the entertanment value of that show has been going down the crapper. For my animated fun I watch Family Guy. It's not on anymore (censors had fun with that show) but I can't what for the DVD.

"Family guy" was an outrageous show! It was an equal opportunity insulter.

Well, get ready for another Simpson's slam this Sunday - Jan. 5th! Bart wins his teacher a trip to "EFcot." Should be good for a few laughs!
