Looking for opinions about having DCA as starting park with hoppers on a rainy morning. 3 days total available, and 2 already starting at DL. Concerned about having enough to do with a 3 year old until hopping to DL after 1:00 (41 inches tall). If it rains heavily, it's my understanding that Golden Zephyr, Luigi's, Silly Symphony Swings, and maybe RSR close. Incredicoaster and Goofy's are not options for us, and GRR will be closed. This would leave TSMM, Soarin', Monsters Inc, Phillarmagic, Animation, Turtle Talk, Disney Jr., LM, Webslingers, Pal Around, Carousel, Emotional Whirlwind, and possibly Guardians and Maters. Redwood Creek is also of interest, but I believe that may also close in heavy rain.

Thoughts from other people's rainy DCA mornings with young kids? Just stick with it and stack Genie+ for DL rides later in the day?

We were just there last week and it was very rainy. I still think it’s worth starting at DCA, since on busy days Genie+ return times for rides like TSMM and WS go out really far really quickly. There is plenty to do in a morning with all the indoor rides/attractions, and we did book DL rides for later when we hopped. We also had Lamplight Lounge booked for lunch a couple of the days, so that was a nice place to hide out from the rain and enjoy a leisurely lunch (or as leisurely as it can get with 2/4/6 year olds).

I was there this past Tuesday with my 3 year old and it was raining/misting the whole time. We had plenty to do until we hopped around 2 pm. Partway through the morning we were feeling a little cold and wet so we got treats in the lobby of the Grand Californian and sat there for 30 minutes or so but other than that we had plenty to do. My 3 year old isn't quite 40 inches so we didn't even have Sourin' as an option.

I actually think I’d prefer to be in DCA with a 3-year old if it rained - lots to do indoors (Ariel, monsters, animation academy, turtle talk, Philharmagic, Webslingers.) also it’s so easy to pop into the Grand for a break if you aren’t quite at your hopping time.

Echoing the comment that on a rainy day, it's going to be really hard to do the indoor DCA rides in the afternoon without a long line. G+ will run out for Soarin and Toy Story and maybe Guardians and all the lines will get long since there is less to do. So getting there early still helps.

I appreciate everyone's opinions. I think I'm going to switch to starting at DCA on the rainiest morning. The only downside is having back to back mornings starting at DL (instead of alternating), but my family personally would rather have 2 mornings at DL as it's our preferred park. I do like the idea of all the indoor attractions near the front of DCA, and the Grand as a quick escape.
