Hi! We are going to be at DL and DCA in August 2009. I've been looking at the DL POTD thread and there are lots of references to different things that won't be there soon. One is the ferris wheel (with the sun on it), another is the word "California" outside the park, and a couple of other things inside or around the park. I'm just curious...does anyone know when these different things are scheduled to be removed/remodeled? I guess I just want to know what to expect when I get there.

TIA!! :goodvibes

The Sun face on the Sun Wheel is already down. It's scheduled to be finished with Mickey's face on April 24th.

The giant Mickey head on California Screamin' has come down and has already been replaced with a Paradise Pier sign. They are supposed to be adding a sunburst of sorts to this also and it should be up by the same date as Mickey's Fun Wheel.

I'm really not too sure when the giant California letters are supposed to come down.

The new Cocina Cucamonga and the Lucky Fortune Cookery swamp is supposed to be finished and both open for service by June.

King Triton's Carousel is getting a new roof right now. That will be done by May 20th.

The lagoon in Paradise Pier will most likely still be drained by the time you.

HTH!

That will keep you up to day.

DCA is done in phases. Currently they are finishing up the bathroom move on San Francisco street and when that is done then they can start the bathroom demolition and the Golden Dreams demolition. The wharf is expected to under go refurb and the Lucky Fortune Cookie will be given a new them then if it is latino food they will redo Cocina Cucamonga into something else. That area will be a dead end until the lake work is completed. The redwoods, winery, and Condor Flats will not be touched for a long time. The winery might get restaurant changes but not actual heavy duty stuff and walls.
