For those that are interested, the Blue Sky Cellar building in DCA that houses previews of the upcoming changes to DCA over the next 2 years, now has a website that's pretty slick. There's lots of pictures and interviews with the designers and directors of World of Color and the developers for The Little Mermaid Dark Ride as well as Cars Land and Carthay Circle, among other.

I visited the Blue Sky Cellar and watched the video there during my trip in June. I loved the scale model of Paradise Pier. I was excited to be there, my first time at DL and DCA, and I definitely need to go back to see World of Color. I was kinda bummed to see all the construction and the empty lagoon, but it'll be worth it by 2012.
I was especially excited that by riding CaliScreamin', Mulholland Madness, Mattehorn, SM, and BTMRR (didn't get on Gadget's Go Coaster), my total roller coaster count is over 300 now!

You have a roller coaster count?

Hmmm we may have to get to know each other!

I not only ride em', I build them too. You can see why I was so excited to see the Paradise Pier model. Here is mine, the Timber Flash! (under construction)
Someday I'll get around to actually finishing it.

ROFL!

I built a small amusement park out of Balsa wood back in High School! I blame the long winters in Ohio for that! :lmao:

I think your count of over 300 has me beat though!

Ever been to Cedar Point?

Walking through the Blue Sky Cellar definitely made think about how close I was to seriously considering becoming an Imagineer myself.

You'll love this: the uprights of the bents in the model are cut balsa wood, but I needed something the size of a popsicle stick for the cross beams. But I didn't use actual popsicle sticks, my mom worked in an OB/GYN clinic and all those pieces you see in the pics are Pap Smear sticks! :rotfl::rotfl:

I've been to Cedar Point twice, but not recently, so I haven't been on Wicked Twister, Mil.Force, TTDragster, or Maverick.

You name the date sister and I am there! :thumbsup2

As far as the pap smear thing.......never mind!

Now to try to get this thread back on course...

I really want to go to Anaheim soon, but I think I'm gonna wait for the DCA project to be finished!

Does anyone know how they're going to go about doing all the remodeling and such? Are they going to close down the park in sections or just close it altogether? I'm going on Saturday and i'm curious to see if they've started any construction

Walls are up around most of the lagoon area however as you cross over to the Paradise Pier (CA Screaming and TSMM) you can view the work that's being done in the lagoon for World of Color. The park is not in the most eye-appealing mode at this time.

I haven't ventured too much into DCA the last couple of times we went. It is getting a bit congested with the work going on and congestion and I don't get along very well.

Thinking I need to go to DL again now. :)
But I'm not a big fan of Cali.

I'm anxious to see all the construction actually in September. I know the park isn't pretty and a good place to take photo's, but the park still has plenty of attractions to go on. It's just going to be odd to see the lagoon empty, Cali State Park being redone to hold 9K people, Route 66 area gone (although it was hideous looking) and the little mermaid ride being built. I should be called World of Walls, not World of Color. But in two years, the park is going to be amazing. They're really going out of their way to make this a true Disney Park.

Finally.

Wally, California is great! My dream would be to live in Southern California.

Sorry.
I've Been.

Several times.

I like the San Diego area.
And San Fran and environs was nice.

I 'm totally underwhelmed with the LA area.

We would love to live in SD. Steven lived in SF for 3 years and wants to move back so bad. Cost of living at either one is ridiculous.

LA I don't care for much either. It's not very "california" to me. Just a bit annoying city. Too bad Anaheim isn't more southern, closer to SD.

We did the Rose Parade one year. It was a childhood dream of mine. :cloud9:
Totally Amazing.
Pasadena seemed nice.

I would love to see that some day. I have a friend who's a florist back in Omaha and he goes every year to work on the parade. Say's it's been some of the most amazing times of his life, despite no sleep for about 4 days.
