DCA MM for DLR hotel guests - it's official!

It's been official for more than a week. That info was posted early last week (thanks to Hydro for the linky). See my clarification from CM Mary on the phone tonight:

This explains why EMH is not listed for DCA for the first two full weeks of the DCA re-opening.

After Disney went to such lengths to tell us this is a perk to stay on-site, when we hear this is only an on-site perk for 17 days before everyone gets in on July 2nd, it takes the luster of the announcement away.

FYI and everyone else's info, Disney has a history of having unannounced policies at DLR. For many years starting in 2005 Disney allowed hotel guests to use Magic Mornings every day they were offered. You could call them, ask them , e-mail them,, etc. and would get a stream of inconsistent and conflicting answers. Even their website had conflicting info. What was never conflicting was that the CMs at the hotel and the CMs at the turnstiles knew about it and consistently allowed it. Threads were started here regularly asking if it was really true. We all said it was based on experience. DLR did not even show Magic Mornings on their calendar since maybe 2 years ago. So it was hard to even find out officially when MM happened.

That there is confusion around this like the phone calls reported, website calendars, etc., is frustrating for some. Those of us who have been around forums for several years are not that worried about it.

:)

I agree - I actually preferred the DCA early entry through GCH for DLR guests with the later opening time. Getting in at the same time as anyone else with MM on their ticket, AND AP holders, isn't so great at all, and really not much of an incentive to stay onsite vs. offsite with a multi-day hopper. We timed our trip to avoid the early crush of crowds at CL opening, but now I am wishing we'd planned to be there during those first 17 days. :confused3

I must have missed something:confused3...what happens after 17 days? Anyone that has MM can use it at CA?

Count me as confused as well.

I am happy that the on site people get some kind of perk if only for 17 days. Since it looks like their are no discounts for this summer they should get something.

I agree! I was hoping that hotel guests get the DCA perk - exclusively. We have hotel reservations at DLH and if they don't offer some type of discount soon, this will be the most we've ever paid! I would also think that with the new AP rates, they would give AP holders a better that 10% hotel discount. I'm still hoping that we'll see some type of hotel discount after Memorial Day.

Yes, apparently starting on July 2nd it is like a regular MM and is no longer exclusive to DLR hotel guests/APs. Big thumbs down for those of us who have onsite reservations later in the summer.

We've stayed on site the last few years but with no discount we couldn't justify the cost of hotels. GCH $400 DLH $300? Seriously?

We are staying on the ocean for the first few days of our vacation at the Hotel Del Coronado and its cheaper than both of those.

We are saving over $2500 by staying on Harbor this year at Fairfield Inn. We've stayed there before and find it adequate. I will miss the GCH and those awesome chaisse lounge chairs and the location but not at the cost of over 2k.

This makes sense to me, though they should have delayed it until September. DL MMs aren't very crowded even with "everybody who has an MM on their ticket" being able to use it. If people with an MM can only use it on one day of their trip, I still don't think its going to get terribly crowded, and spreading out the APs on certain days of the week will make sure of that.

Many people who are coming from out of town who don't go to to DLR very often will probably still choose to use their MM on DL since there's a lot of rides that can be done there, one can knock out 6+ rides in an hour, including a bunch with no fastpass.

Might be too early to have an answer for this question, but - if I'm staying offsite and have MM, am I still allotted 1 MM altogether, or 1 MM for DL and 1 MM for DCA?

Shouldn't this be combined with the "super" thread to avoid [even] more confusion?

I can't delete it, but if nobody else replies it will drop off the page. :) I'm not even sure this information is correct anymore!

As far as anyone knows it will be one day at DL in your case.
