DCA: Keep, Update or Demolish

honestly, i would very much like Disney's California Adventure to be turned into a Disney's Pixar land.

Let's see, Knott's Bumper cars are better than Tuck 'n Roll.

Knott's real old school train (the current engine was just redone) is much better than the Red Car Trolley. Also you have the original Stagecoaches as another good transportation option.

The Kid's Steam engine, Grand Sierra is better than Heimlich's Chew Chew Train.

A stated, the Interactive Shoot them up ride Voyage of the Iron Reef is better than Midway Mania. (more advanced tech, and better seating plans for families).

Great dark rides with AA's in the Log Ride and Mine Train attractions.

While I will say that GRR is better than Bigfoot Rapids, they are basically the same ride using the same rafts.

Hat Dance or Ladybug Boogie, seems the same to me.

Both parks have Merry Go Rounds, and IMHO, the Knott's version is much nicer and less "Plastic" as compared to King Triton's.

As stated, if Disney wants to keep charging what they want to charge, they need to keep improving and make the park better. So I totally disagree with "None of it needs to go". Yes, there are "Keeps", but there are still a lot of things that need either updating or demolishing (replacement) at DCA. (IMHO).

I am an Old-School person, but look at Disneyland, it had many different lands when it opened, not just one specific thought. So it was designed to attract many different types of people.

Has Pixar done some great things, of course, and some attractions should be themed to them, but right now, "Super Heroes" are hot, and Disney wants to take advantage of that, and I don't blame them.

So variety is good, and I hope to never see a Disney park with such a narrow focus. I think they learned that between Animal Kingdom, which is not doing as well as the other parks, and the fiasco of the original MGM Studios theme Park. You need to reach out to many different groups and their likes/dislikes.

Sorry, but a playground, spinners and lots of filler is not what I expect for the price..

I actually think you'll find many families like having playgrounds at amusement parks, and it seems most have them. And honestly the "playground" at DCA is pretty awesome. It way surpasses the playgrounds at the Six Flags parks, those ones really are just big playgrounds, yet the kids are still drawn to them. Kids need to run around and burn off energy. And the play areas also make a great place for parents to wait with kids while taller family members ride rides. This is one thing I do not want to see removed from DCA. It could get an update again (it's had a few slight theme changes), but it needs to stay. DCA has to have things that appeal to kids. I actually think this is much more important than all the rides in Bugsland combined.

I agree. It's a great space.

While BugsLand doesn't really hold anything exciting for me, I've been with littles that LOVE it - and watching the kiddos play in the splash area always puts a smile on my face. Plus, the theming is AWESOME - and it's a really fun (AND SHADY!) area to run through for RunDisney races at Disneyland. I also think it looks cool lit up at night.

I don't understand the notion of wanting to keep the swings but getting rid of Golden Zephyr. They're both fun walk-on rides - same with the Jellyfish drop. On a personal level, I hope those never go away because the little we travel with ALWAYS makes my husband - who is deathly afraid of heights - ride those rides. Just to watch him be tortured on simple rides is worth his park admission for me! #WifeOfTheYear

I know these are all "off-the-shelf" rides, but for me, it's getting a little thrill on a ride in beautiful weather in an amazing setting that sets it all apart. I FEEL like I'm at an oceanside pier, skipping school and riding the rides.

For the people who hate Redwood Creek - I love it. Again, we travel with an active 8-year-old girl and this is always a highlight for her. It's a great way for her to burn off some of that crazy, manic childhood energy (SERIOUSLY. WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?!?), and we can sit back, take a breather and watch her.

I know I'm probably Pollyana about this - but I've done Disneyland now solo; with my husband and mom; with my girlfriends; and twice with our best couple friends and their daughter ... and every trip, we always end up spending more time in DCA. It's almost a perfect park, in my eyes. Yes, it could use one more C-ticket and a D/E-ticket attraction, but couldn't they all? Mix it that in with the live performances around the park, the dining options and World of Color ... yeah, DCA is doing just fine right now in my opinion.

OK, I am looking at the Original Question, Keep, Update or Demolish, and then look at the current crowds and costs to convert/demolish.

The Redwood Creek area is large, and only serves a small percentage of the park guests (hyperactive kids). Is it good for that group, heck yes. But is it making Disney money??? That is the bigger question, how many tickets/passes are sold due to the area. IMHO, very few.

Should the be an area that allows that, seems like there are already multiple areas in DCA than can do it.

And based on the lack of sales for the DCA only Special Pass at COSTCO (based on what a few COSTCO employees have said), doesn't seem like it is a stand alone park yet. Or that popular....
