When we were at DCA in January for the first time, we entered the park and then made a left and headed towards Monsters, etc. There were lots of barricades set down the middle of the street and it looked as if there was some sort of trolley under construction. Just what will this be and when will it be finished?

The Red Cars will transport guests from the park entrance to the Tower of Terror area. See this OC Register article for a little more info. The walls were still up when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

When we were there in January for our first time, there were so many walls and barricades up at DCA and DL that it really felt claustrophobic at times. It seems as if a lot of those barricades are down now, around WOC at DCA and around ROA at DL, so I am sure that our experience this trip will be a lot different. Between the barricades and the torrential rains we had in January, this upcoming trip should be really like our very first trip ever to DL and DCA.

Some of the walls are already down. And some additional walls have appeared.

Here's some pictures I took in the area on 4/27 showing the new trolley track.

And now there are more walls in front of ToT necessitating a temporary new entrance to Tower. Also the gate between ToT and Flik's Fun Fair is now closed.

Off to the side, close to the exit. I don't think the FP were accessible either.

On 4/27 some of the walls were still up around ROA and some were down.

Wow, how different that street looks with the walls down. I only saw it once and the walls made it so you could not see from one side of the street to the other and not being familiar with the park, we really had a hard time telling what all was there. It made it so unappealing that we ventured down that street only once and then moved on.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post those pics.

You're welcome and have a great trip! Be sure to check out Animation Studios (where the trolley will be going by) It's a frequently overlooked attraction. Animation Academy and Turtle Talk with Crush are located there.

Animation is one of the few things we did find on that street, and we thought it to be far superior to Animation in WDW. We didn't do Crush because we thought it would be just the same as WDW, but we loved everything else, especially the zoetrope--hope that is the correct name of the Buzz thing.

I too love the Animation Academy. And it's so nice that you get to take your drawing with you (unlike DQ at WDW where you have to purchase it). I get a rubberband from one of the artists and then sometimes, depending on how long we are staying, I'll get a back from the attached store to carry it in. The CMs in the store are always very helpful.;)

Yes, Crush is the same at DCA and WDW.

The Trolley won't be done until 2012 when the new DCA entrance is done. However as we get into summer I don't think they will be working on any of it. The section behind by ToT I'm not sure about. All accounts I read is that it is closed for the summer. Though I doubt this. Currently behind this wall they are making new ToT FP area and laying the rails that go to the Trolley storage barn.

I would guess that it is a priority to get the ToT FP going again. They've been at it a few weeks so it may show up sooner than we expect, or it may take two years until that area is also an entrance to the new Carsland area.

I would guess that after late summer when Aladdin leave the hyperion theater is when they will install the section of tracks in front of ToT.

The last section of Track in the entrance of the park will be done while they do the carthay theater and the new entrance. I would guess the loop in the track first in the Fall, so they don't cut the park in half, after that is done they can use alternate entrance while doing the beauno vitsta street area.

There are still walls up on part of the street the Animation Academy is on...they're right arounf the Playhouse Disney queue and take up about half of hte street...but they end right before the "Off the Page" store.

(We were there 4/29-5/3 and they were up the whole time we were there..I will post pictures if I have any)

Here's a picture taking Sunday afternoon, May 2nd from right outside the Animation Academy. You can see the walls to the left..

it definitely made foot traffic an issue in that part of the park at times

The ToT FPs are closed for the summer to build the permanent path between there and Fliks Fantasy Fair.

I assure you that the FP machines are moving and not closed to construct a path. The FP machines are being moved so they are adjacent to the attraction and not across a new pathway.

I have seen pictures of two possibilities of the new pathway. One being that it goes between the ToT and A Bugs land. It continues around the back of a bugs land into the new carsland. In the second layout it goes through A bugs land truncating the corner with tuck 'n' rolls drive'em buggies.

The latest infomation I've seen indicates the first model. It sound better than the second for theming as it won't have to tranisition through 3 land in one hundred feet. Though it does leave A Bugsland with one entrance in and out.

It won't take a spring and summer to build a path from the ToT area to A bugs land they had just a wall to seperate them and could of been done during a slower period if that all they needed.
