Has anyone gone to Discovery Cove in January? I just posted on another thread that we have changed our trip from Thanksgiving week 2014 to January 2014 (1-7) due to fear of Harry Potter crowds with the new stuff opening next summer. We have never been to US/IOA/DC/SW/BG and were really looking forward to DC and swimming with the dolphins. However, I am now worried about the cold. Has anyone gone to DC at this time of year. It will be me and my husband and our 3 kids (11,8 and 7). We plan on going to all the parks as many times as possible during our week, so the DC ticket deal is definitely worth it.....if we will enjoy DC in January:scared:!! Please help me out! Thanks

I've done it!! Went Jan 2011 and honestly it was fine. Sure it was a bit cold in the morning and if the wind picked up and you were still in a wetsuit that was wet it got uncomfortable but I wouldn't have given it up. I've also been in Febraury (obviously I'm a glutton for punishment lol). They have heaters around the park while it's cold and you can always warm up with coffee or tea if you really need to.

^^This^^ :thumbsup2

We have been to DC in January (New Years Day 2012, to be exact) and had a great time. Like the PP mentioned, the mornings can be quite cool, but DC does a great job of keeping the guests comfortable with the heaters and the wetsuits.

Some of the waters, such as the lazy river and the Freshwater Oasis, are also SUPER warm (think bath water temps) so they are good places to enjoy on a chillier day. And heck, you may get lucky and have summer-like temperatures in January......'cause Florida in the winter is unpredictable like that!

Enjoy your trip to DC. Its my favourite park in all of Orlando!
