DC - How Far In Advance?

How far in advance should we book Discover cove if aiming to go Wed, Dec 23 (I see the price goes up $20, Thur the 24th). They recommend 2 months for summer/holidays. I suspect that is a bit of an exaggeration. It isn't very warm there in late Dec and I think most families are notorious for not booking things in advance other than the 'core' theme parks (WDW, Universal, SeaWorld) so I would *guess* that the majority of DC tickets are sold buy hotel Concierges making recommendations of other things to do/see besides the major theme parks. But I could be wrong.

The reason I'm interested is I'd prefer to check the weather report 6 or 7 days in advance to decide to go or not. If they get a cold spell down into the low 60;s high 50's, that does not sound like fun, even in a wet suit.

That is a tough one, we are going in the end of Nov., and I am a little worried that if it is cold it wont be as fun either. But we went ahead and booked it anyway, we will hope for really nice weather, and use the suits to help if not. Although I must say we are use to pretty cold weather, so anything over about 60 is warm and good enough for us. Anything over 90 is too hot.
If you know for sure that you want to go on that day, I would book it pretty soon. You are going during the busiest time of the year, and so things do "sell out". Discovery Cove only sells a limited number of tickets per day (I think I read 1000), So if you know this is for sure the day you want, I would do it now. Also if the weather is really bad/cold, they will let you reschedual for another day (according to others on the board that have had no problems doing so). Some of our dates (August 19th-26th of this year) starting selling out a little over a month away. Also, as days began to sell out, the prices started to rise so that is something to keep in mind. Days that were $219 went as high as $299. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a gamble.
