Hi All,

Sorry I truly read most of the 89 posts in the other DC hotel thread; however our situation is just different enough that I still need your help, please.

Our GS troop of probably 15 rooms (so I don’t think we could use Priceline or Hotwire??) would like to visit DC for 3 days & 2 nights. Probably early June, we were thinking like a Sunday - Tuesday to avoid any big summer crowds. We’d like a hotel w/ free parking & breakfast & understand this will move us outside the city. So we’d love to hear from you! Can this be done & how close to a metro station & the city can we get? Any recommendations for our hotel? :thumbsup2

So far we’re looking at a Monuments by night tour, an on/off day tour & possibly the duck tour??? Also any great dinner recommendations would be greatly appreciated too! popcorn::

Happy spring!!:flower3:

Hampton Inn, or one of the others in Springfield, VA...it's south of the city and just outside the beltway, but right near Franconia-Springfield metro station.....

Drive into DC at your own risk...:lmao::lmao:

Traffic and parking:eek:

We stayed 2 weeks ago in Alexandria at the Residence Inn. There's supposed to be a parking fee but they waived it for me (maybe because I was checked in under my dh's Plat. rewards though). It was still worth it even if I had to pay for parking....free breakfast (including hot items like fresh scrambled eggs daily) and a very short walk to the Metro station.

15 rooms is a lot...do you have 60 people going (4 per room)? 2 b/r suites sleep up to 8. You'd only have to pay parking for the actual cars, not for each room.

Another place to check out is the Embassy Suites also in Old Town Alexandria. It's literally across the street from the Metro and they have a wonderful full breakfast too. You'd have to see what/if they charge for parking though. Couldn't hurt to ask if they'd waive the fee for a Girl Scout troop!

That Embassy Suites is where I usually stay (and where I'm at right now), parking **might** be an issue, but you're right, it's a great option...15 rooms might be tough though...

We went in August last year and stayed at the Embassy Suites in Vienna, VA. Free parking, shuttle to the Metro station, complimentary cooked to order breakfast, evening reception, indoor pool. It was very nice and we got a good rate. We never used the shuttle though. We drove to the Metro station, which was about a 15-20 minute drive. Traffic was no problem.

I'd did trip report (link in signature) and there are pictures of the Embassy Suites interior and our room.
