DBL vs 2 SINGLE STROLLERS?

We are travelling w/ toddler twins....should we bring our double stroller (lightweight @15 lbs) or should we buy 2 single umbrella strollers to bring? We are staying on a monorail resort so for the most part, bus trips will be minimum....Any input appreciated

Are you ever going to have to push the kids by yourself? Then double is better. Do the kids get along sitting next to each other? Then single is better. It would be easier to keep track of one double stroller than 2 singles.

I have a 4yo and almost 2yo and we use 2 singles. I also purchased stroller connectors for about $12 to connect the two when I needed them connected. It worked great for us because one evening, my 4yo and I stayed for Wishes but DH and baby were tired so they left. One thing to keep in mind with a double side by side is you can only fit on the handicap car of the monorail and if someone is in a wheelchair, they get priority before you. With the singles, you can fit on any car.

I saw this a problem for one family. Dad was taking the bigger kid on a ride, one of the little ones needed a potty break and she had 2 strollers. "How am I gonna push both of these....?" You see her dilema. Was glad it wasnt me!

If u buy the stroller connectors, then u can connect the 2 if needed for short times. I would not recommend for all day use. I have a 4.5 yr old and 1.5 yr old, and we opted for 2 singles, so we that we have more flexibility and more ease getting thru crowds. Also, our Mac Triumphs fold up very easy and have carrying straps, so if I was in the above mentioned potty dilema(ds isn't potty training yet, so I wouldn't), then I could either connect the two strollers, leave them there taking the valuables out, or fold one stroller & carry it on my shoulder while pushing the other.

I think both double and single have there advantages, but for us the single pros list was longer. Also depends on size and temperment of your children. My older child does not fit well in any of the double umbrellas just the heavier size doubles, and they both like their own space after awhile.

I also have twins and for us it's easier to use a double stroller. Kids the same age (twins!) are most likely going to be in the stroller at the same time and if your family is like ours, you all go on the same rides together. I assume your double stroller is front and back rather than side by side? Front and back double strollers are a piece of cake getting on and off the monorail. Have a great trip!

We took a side-by-side double stroller. I liked one parent being able to control it. The extra storage underneath was great. I took the boys and my DH folded the stroller when we rode a bus. The monorail was even easier, often we were allowed (even directed to) just push the stroller into an empty handicapped car. I think you lightweight double stroller would be best. What kind is it?

Hi our double stroller is side by side...so will it fit on the monorail Also, it says "combi" all over it...but dont know brand! BElieve its Mclaren Combi twin stroller? If you can believe it , my DH actually bought it real nice, folds up in half easily and is very light weight (15 lb)....but he thinks the 2 umbrella are an option too...though no storage room on those....guess its 6 in one 1/2 doz in the other But curious, will I have a problem on the monorail w/ side by side double Thanks SO MUCH for the replies!!!A stroller can make or break your trip hee hee

I've used a side by side for several trips and it wouldn't fit on all monorail sections, only the handicaped section and the CM directed me to it; at least that was the case for me.

Your side by side stroller will fit just fine in the wheelchair sections of the monorail. How old are your twins? Will you still need all the storage in strollers for baby/child things, like snacks, drink cups, possible change of clothes, etc.? And are your twins still young enough that they'll nap right in the stroller? I think the most important factor is to take the stroller(s) that your children will be the most comfortable in. Nothing can be worse than having the little ones uncomfortable or unhappy. Our twins are 2 yrs old now and we're taking our Graco double stroller to WDW next month. We took this same stroller to WDW when our twins were 7 mos old, 13 mos old, and 18 mos old. Each trip it worked like a charm. Good luck!

I didnt leave the house for 4 months, let alone venture to WDW! Good for you! Any tips for travelling w/ twinfants/twin toddlers? THis will be our 1st trip! As for the stroller, guess will head to the wheelchair access part of monorail, thanks for the info everyone!

This was the same with us, when we stayed at the Poly. Our boys were 3 1/2 and the stroller (A double side-by-side Carter) worked great. Room for the sippy cups, wet wipes, small battery fans (in a small diaper bag), camera/camcorder bag (in one bag). We could just grab the boys and the 2 bags and were ready for any attraction. Often while we were in a show/ride our stroller was moved within the stroller parking area (to create more room) and we had to search for it. I would not want to look for 2 strollers. I just bought a Schwinn double umbrella stroller for our next trip, the twin will be five. We wanted an umbrella stroller that could hold more bigger kids, but is is much heavier than our old one. The boys will walk some, but a stroller helps us keep track of them (no running off) and help haul anything we might need.

Actually, I didn't venture out of the house for about the first 3-4 months either! Talk about a shocking change in lifestyle! In our past trips with the twins, the main thing we've learned is that sticking to a schedule is not always a good thing in WDW. I made PS's ahead of time at various restaurants and wouldn't you know it, but it always seemed like one baby was sleeping or too wiped out to sit in a restaurant and eat. We've learned to adjust our schedule to their schedule. Whenever they are hungry, we eat too. Or if they happen to nod off at the same time during the day, we take the opportunity to grab a bite to eat in some peace & quiet!

There are baby care centers in each park that are very nice. I recommend using these for diaper changes rather than the general restrooms. They also have baby supplies there if you run in to an emergency. Beware of steep prices, though.

We like going to character meals with our twins. Something for you to keep in mind is that kids under 3 yrs old are free in buffet-type meals.

We will be traveling to Disney next week with our 2 1/2 year old twin boys and 6 year old daughter. We will be using our Duoglider. We also used it when we went in 2002. They are used to that stroller, so I didn't want to upset them witih a stroller they've never been in. One of my guys doesn't like "change".
