Daytona place to stay

We will be staying in Daytona for our 1st night when we arrive in Florida in November. Looking for a nice (clean) place to stay on the beach or very close to the beach for 2 adults and 2 kids. Any suggestions? Also any good restaurants close by?

We just stayed in Daytona for 1 night to start our trip. We stayed at the Hilton Oceanfront. It was more expensive then other hotels, but I think worth it. The room was large with 2 (very comfortable) queen size beds, a couch and 2 chairs, desk...it was big, very clean and very safe feeling. It is right on the water so you can go in the ocean (which was 76 degrees last week ) or in the pool. It is right next to The Ocean Walk which is full of shops and restaurants.

Like I said above, it is probably more expensive then other hotels, I think we paid $170 AAA rate, but worth it.

Right down the street from the Hilton is another place called the Plaza, and the Plaza Ocean Club. Both are nice clean resorts which is kinda rare for Daytona. The hilton has been a number of brands over the years, and I havent been in there since the 80's to give input there...

Well, I live in Daytona. I have never stayed in a hotel here, because I live here; however, I would suggest the Plaza Ocean Club. It is kept really well.

We stayed at Perry's because we have a relative that once worked there and had high praise for the resort. It was very nice. Many restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely return.

my only advice would be remember it is daytona...we did not find it to be family friendly....i don't mind adults drinking..even around my kids but I do mind drunks,cussing,people taking thier clothes off in the streets,etc...I dont even remember the name of the place but it was oceanfront and looked nice...i would just say be careful of what you choose..because ours was just a weekend in Aug... not holiday... nothing special and you would have thought it was SPRING BREAK/GIRLS GONE WILD..

I perfer just to drive on in to Orlando...we have Myrtle Beach and Charleston here in SC...thats all the beach we can stand....

I think Oceanwalk is family friendly. It's not inexpensive, unless you can find an owner to rent from. At that time of year, you should be able to do that.

Lazy river, water slides and mini golf all for free.

Has anyone ever stayed at Acapulco hotel and resort in Daytona? Any feedback?

I was at a meeting of church professional a couple of years ago at the El Caribe. http://www.elcaribe.com/

This was not a fancy place, but it is owned by people who view it as a ministry. There's a SERRV shop on site (fair trade 3rd world items for sale) and a little gift was left every day by the housekeeping staff. It definitely had a personalized feel to it; the rooms are large, and it's right on the beach. If you get on their mailing list, you'll get emails once a month or so with specials.

We were there a couple of years ago and stayed at the Adams Mark.I think it is something else now. It was decent. I left the first place I had reserved. Cigarette butts floating in pool, just nasty, never even saw the room. I forget what that was called. There were two places next to and entertainment/dining/shopping complex and withing walking distance to the pier. Was that the Ocean Walk? Anyways, the place next to it looked really nice.

We have stayed many times at a small family owned property in Daytona Beach Shores called Atlantic Ocean Palms. It is oceanfront and has a small heated pool. We found it to be much cleaner than any of the other properties we have stayed at in Daytona and I like being a bit away from the craziness of Oceanwalk. It is a short drive down to Ponce Inlet, where there are some great seafood restaurants. The hotel was recently refurbished and they even have free WiFi in the rooms now (DH is looking forward to this for our next visit). If you need any other information, please feel free to PM me.

I have a friend who lives in Ormond Beach (north end of Daytona) and while in FL last month we stayed at The Cove on Ormond Beach, which is a timeshare, but does rentals. I got a great rate through Travelocity on a "luxury" 1BR, which was refurbished. It had a full kitchen, flat screen t.v.s in BR and LR. Small waterpark with lazy river and slide that the kids enjoyed. Daytona Beach is not very big so if you stay north or south of Daytona Beach in the quiet more family oriented areas, you are only a short drive to the attractions. I did visit the Ocean Walk Shoppes and the 2 hotels there looked nice and on a part of the beach that doesn't allow cars (a concern if you have little ones). HTH

I noticed that Travelzoo has some codes on Daytona Beach Hotels. (www.travelzoo.com) The oceanwalk for $169.00 is a lot but it is a really nice place - no cars on the beach, I stayed at Boardwalk Inn and Suites in May - it is next to the area with no cars. The oceanfront room was a really nice suite but the singer next door was really loud on Sat. afternoon!
