So were arriving a day early though we would head out to daytona beach is it any good?any thing ti do?is it worth the 90min drive?

It's not what it used to be, but DH and I spent five days there after our trip this past September for our 25th anniversary. He and his family have been going to Daytona Beach since he was a young boy and his parents, up until last year, went twice a year for two weeks each time (they stopped because they are both in their late 70's early 80's and could not do the driving anymore). After the hurricane, a lot of the hotels were torn down, some are still standing but are boarded up. There are still several nice hotels and lots of condos. We spent a lot of time walking up and down the beach, going to old local favorites for dinner, shopping, etc.

If your tickets at Disney don't start until the day after you arrive, then yes, I'd take a drive to the beach. You can drive your car on the beach...depending on the time of year, etc. If you go, be sure to go to the hot dog stand on the beach...great hot dogs!

Well we check in to wilderness lodge on may 25th ,we will be in orlando at a nearby hotel on the 24th in the morning.looking for something to do that wont be expensive,So that we can waste the day away, my daughter has never been to the beach so i thought about going there.

I've been going to Daytona for many years. There is plenty to do there and the beach is very big and beautiful. It only takes a little over an hour (depending on traffic on I-4)to get there from Disney. I think it's definitly worth it.

I have a 1st timer here at work who was going to take his family, wife and 2 kids4 and 6 to Disney for 6 nights 7 days. Now he has decided he wants to drive over to Daytona for a couple of nights to see the "ocean".:confused3 I told him he's never going to able to see all of Disney in 4 days. He thinks 2 days for the MK, one for Epcot and one for AK and he will be getting Hoppers. I told him even with the driving over to Daytona :car:and checking in he won't really have very much time there since he'll have to drive from Daytona to Orlando airport on the last day. What do you guys think?:headache:

From what I read I think your right to litle time to do everything. Thats why I dont want to sacrifice one of my 7 nights 8 days package,To go to daytona beach im using my early day there. If he wants to go I gues thats okay if he doesnt get to see everything at Disneyworld thats a reason to go back.

That's what I told him, he can go to Daytona next year but he seems to think this will be his only ever family trip to Florida so he wants to squeeze it all in.:confused3

We went to Daytona last year with someones timeshare for 4 days before Disney. We usually go to cocoa Beach. We will be back to Cocoa Beach. It is closer than Daytona and we did not like the fact that the water came right up to the wall. Then the beach would disappear..
