Caribbean Jack's--best place in Daytona. Right on the river, plenty of outdoor "swing" seats on the deck, very colorful decor inside. A lot of seafood, but also a fair assortment of other dishes (even the burgers are great). A little hard to find, it's on Ballough Road, just south of the Seabreeze Bridge (on the mainland side). Worth seeking out, tho.

Aunt Catfish, in Port Orange, is also very good; basically "homestyle" Florida cooking.

OceanWalk (on A1A between Main Street and Seareeze Avenue) has Bubba Gumps (fun but pricey) and Johnny Rockets (never been, not my thing). Adobe Gillas is also there--more of a bar at night, but fine for kids during the day or early evening.

There's an excellent little family-owned Italian place on the west side of A1A, a little north of Seabreeze--I'll ask some friends to see if they can remember the name.

Daytona Alehouse is alright (tho not as good as its Orlando counterparts), but it's very far in-land (on 92, just before I-95).

Of course, just about every chain you've ever heard of is also represented.

I should also mention the Ocean Deck, also right on A1A. The upstairs dining room is always fine for kids, and the downstairs (which opens up right onto the beach) is fine during the day--like Adobe, becomes more of a bar at night. I'm kind of indifferent to it, but I have plenty of friends who swear by it.

The Deck Down Under in Port Orange is fabulous! It is just north of A1A under the bridge that takes you away from the peninsula. Inexpensive, relaxed atmosphere...it is 2 minutes from our family, and we eat there at least 3 times each trip! That's where I will be for dinner one week from today!

Enjoy your vacation!

We like Sweetwater's, which is just south of Daytona Beach in Port Orange.

If you like prime rib - drive north up A1A to Flagler Beach, there is the best little steak place called Martin's. They have a giant prime rib. It really is more of a roast! It's really good and inexpensive. I haven't been for a few years but you can ask anybody who lives there and they'll tell you about Martin's.

Bubba Gumps is a fun and good restaurant if you like shrimp. Make sure you are up on your knowlege of Forest Gump.
