Daytona Beach (DAB) Airport?

I fly into TPA all the time and it's fine. Frankly, I don't think it takes a whole lot longer than flying into MCO. I was looking at booking flights for my annual Christmas trip and I noticed that DAB (Daytona Beach) was significantly cheaper on Delta. I searched the board for chatter about DAB, but didn't see any.

Has anyone flown in/out of DAB? How was it?

Never actually flew in/out of DAB but its a much smaller airport and should be very easy to get to/from your gates and car rental. The biggest downside I see (as compared to TPA) is that you essentially have to drive through downtown Orlando on I-4 to get to WDW. That could involve dealing with a lot of construction delays.

It's less than 5 minutes from the airport to I4. There is significant construction on I4 as they are widening it to 3 lanes from I95 to SR44. The good thing is there are still 2 lanes in each direction open at all times. You can avoid the center of Orlando by picking up SR417 in Sanford, exit 101A.

Glad you asked this. We were looking at the same thing on Delta. Have never flown on Delta or into Tampa. Where have u been looking to fly from?

I'm looked at flying out of Milwaukee or Chicago.

We flew in and out of Daytona several (10?) years ago. Nice, small airport. It was very convenient to the highway. We flew on the weekend, so there weren't traffic issues. The biggest issue with flying into Daytona is that you'd be flying Delta, which is notorious for schedule changes. As long as you are flexible and willing to monitor your flight (so that you can act on any changes and change your seats, etc), then for a substantial savings, it may be worth it.

Also make sure that you compare rental car prices and make sure that you aren't going to pay significantly more for a rental car in Daytona...
