Does anyone have any experience with the Dayton, OH airport? I just booked a great airfare direct to Orlando. We live in west of Columbus and I figure it will take about an hour to get to the airport - and we'll save over $120 per person instead of flying out of Columbus. Any advice/first hand reports would be appreciated. Thanks!

Lived there 10 years ago, but just flew in there last March. We love it. It is nice and small.....you can either park right our front, or you may need to go "long term" to save money, but it is nothing on the scale of Detroit or Cincinnati.

Lines not too long for security. Inside, there is a Sbarro, a Starbucks-like coffee thing, but you may want to bring a lunch or snacks from home as there isn't anything else to choose from. A very small bookstore and I am not even sure if they sell gum.

Not many gates; maybe 20 total, split into two sides? When you return, you won't be waiting long for your luggage!!

Watch for construction right before you hit the airport on I-70; you can take that straight in, by the way. Once you cross I-75, the airport is the next exit off I-70.

Have a great time!

We are flying out of there in December via Airtran. We flew from Dayton last year on Airtran as well. If you are taking the early (direct) flight I would suggest getting there no later than 1 1/2 hours before your flight.

There are signs on I-70 directing you to the airport. Follow the long term parking signs & park as close to the terminal as you can for a short walk to the entrance. They do have shuttle service. We took the early flight & walked to the terminal before the shuttle could even get to the terminal. But that was at 5:15am. It takes us about an hour to get to Dayton as well.

Thanks for the reports! It looks like it will only be about 40 minutes more for us to drive to Dayton Airport vs the Columbus Airport. I couldn't resist the savings since we're flying the week before Easter. Looks like an easy airport to get to. I like being able to park close enough to walk to the terminal! Now, if only the weather will cooperate!

Its a nice small airport but if you park in THEIR parking lot..its quite a hike! I would suggest using the Park-N-Save type lot thats on the main road before you turn into the actual airport (not sure if that's the lots exact name or not).

If you go to www.airportparkinglots.com, you can get a discount even on your parking which is what we did. The shuttle drops you right at the door...it was wonderful.

have fun!
