Days to merge reservations?

If it makes you feel better I did call, was actually told it was going to take longer by the phone CM, he told me I believe at least 3 days and as many as 8, but it would get done before my trip lol.

I'm sorry you didn't have better luck calling. As an update, I did just call and the CM noticed a note in my file that they tried to merge it this morning, but it failed. (!!!) It's been escalated to the next level of IT support. The CM has no idea what the problem is (she verified it's all the same room type, guests, etc), so apparently I just broke the system, LOL! If they can't fix it, I'll have 4 reservations for a 6 night stay.
 
I merged two reservations into one last week. I put a messsage on the website they did it 2 days later
 
I dealt with this issue for past week merging 2 different reservations. I first chatted MS last Thurs and got the same response about MS using the form and it would take 24-48hrs. After chat ended, I immediately got an email confirming one of the new merged res. Never got an email for the other merge, although my dashboard showed both had been correctly merged. The problem arose when trying to link both to MDE. They would only show up as the first days of one of my initial reservations with the confirmation # I had prior to attempting the merge. I chatted MS again yesterday and after about 40min in the chat, it was fixed on MDE. All in all, it took a week to get fixed. Luckily chat feature was able to handle it.
 

I never thought to do this online. I have a Monday-Saturday stay at the Polynesian booked and then a single night in the same room category. I was just going to talk to the front desk when I arrive, that should still be fine?
 
I had a reservation merged a few days ago via chat. Actually, the CM suggested doing it (I just forgot) when I chatted to put in my room requests. There were 3 segments, and it took some time, about 15 minutes, but I double-checked a few hours later, to make sure it was correct, and it was.

Based on previous posts, it really depends on the CM. I had requested 2 days ago to merge two reservations. It still has not been done. I called just now and was told it will take 5-7 days to complete because it's done by a different group. I asked why the change. I was told to improve efficiency and have the phone line open for more owners to be able to call in. In the past, the support team would take the CM about 20-25 minutes of wait time to get through to have the reservations merged. Now with them filling out a form and having the support team take 5-7 days to complete the merge, I asked how that is being more efficient? The DVC gut the support team and it's taking them 5-7 days to simply merge a reservation? Is the DVC online system so broken down that support teams has a backlog of 5-7 days? I am absolutely flabergasted by DVC logic.
 
Basically, all employees used to be able to do this for you immediately. In our new world order, most people taking calls at dvc act as triage and can’t actually do anything for you other than put you on hold and get some other wizard of oz type person to complete your request behind the scenes. The reservation merging deal seems to require an especially secretive magic spell and is a service that they don’t usually even put you on hold for anymore. Instead it is filed to be done. Lol. It’s like the executives had a meeting where they said how can we make customer service really bad. Well, let’s implement a new bureaucratic system that confuses and frustrates people and makes them wait an arbitrary amount of time for a one minute fix. Excellent!
 
Got sick of waiting, the room I’m attempting to merge became available today so I canceled one reservation and modified the other to merge them myself. We leave in less than a week so I wanted this done ASAP to avoid them trying to make me move. The one time I was in a situation with 2 reservations which were continuous but not merged I was told by the front desk we were all set both the day before and the morning of..... didn’t stop mouse keeping from knocking on the door and waking my daughter 1/2 hour after speaking to the front desk or coming back mid day and cleaning a room that wasn’t due to be, so I’m assuming they thought we were leaving.... but all our stuff was still in the room:rotfl2:
 
It's been a week for me so I called today. The CM said it was a known system challenge occuring after a software upgrade and it's affecting many people. They are trying to do the merges but there's an IT failure. It's been escaled to high-level IT. They don't know if it can be resolved or not. If not, they'll mark the reservations as continuing so we don't have to move. Ugh.

This was before i left on my trip on august 28th. I went to wdw for 3 weeks. I’m home now, a week now. My merge just happened 2 days ago. It took an entire MONTH to merge my reservation and my daughter’s reservation. Ugh. While on vacation my dining time opened and had to work around the separate reservations. When I came home I planned to call again, then it finally was completed. So plan enough time for them to do this.

A month?! Wow that’s way too long! The problem for me with that is then you can’t modify my reservations or set up waitlists to replace them. I suppose most people are done once they merge…. But I’m always looking for the next best room lol

I agree. I was on two different cruises and stayed at wdw for 9 days in the middle. I wasn’t going to call while I was on vacation, but planned to after we got back last Friday. I figured they forgot about it. Can’t believe it was an entire month. I usually wait until right before a trip. I hope it gets resolved.
 
Just an update - when I logged in this morning I found my reservations merged. I didn't get an email or anything. So, it took a full week from my initial request. I then added the reservation to MDE, but it showed just a one night stay, not the entire span. I did online check-in, logged out then back in, and now the full span of dates shows. So, all is fine now, but it did take a while to get there!
 
I asked to merge two reservations (a one day and a two day at SSR) last week on chat and it was done the same day and I got an email confirmation that day. However, it used the same confirmation number as the old two day reservation and now when I check MDE it only shows the the old two day. The three day reservation only show on the member dashboard. Guess it's going to require another call or chat? I've done this several times before and it's always gone through correctly to MDE.
