Hey, I have seen around that you aren't allowed to ask for specific days off. I was just wondering if this is true. Because technically I am graduating this December, but there is no ceremony and since I still have to pay the graduation fee ($200!) I would like to be able to walk in the graduation ceremony. But the ceremony is in May and I will still be in the program. Is there anyway that I can request that day off?

As soon as you are given Hub access, you can submit your day off requests. You'll know within a day or two if that day is granted.

If you are placed on the waiting list, talk to your managers to let them know and if possible they may be able to help. They will not be able to guarantee anything until about 3 weeks in advance... so wait about a month prior to the date and print off your request and give it to them.

I've found that depending on the manager they can override deployment and be able to get that day off approved. Just talk to the managers and request that day off as soon as you have HUB access. That seems like such a big event!! I don't blame you I would wanna be there too!!!

Like I said in another thread, if you don't get the day(s) off that you need approved, there might be seasonal or part-time cast in your line of business that would be happy to take your shift(s) from you. I would ask around to some of the full and part time cast and see if they know anyone who's looking for extra shifts. :)
