is it thumbs up or down and why? i got a great deal on easyclick travel

I recently stayed at the Days Inn and was satisfied, especailly for the price.
The room was basic, nothing special , 2 double beds, tv, bathroom and the pool was nice.
The location was great, it was a 15 minute walk and even the closest hotels outside of Universal are 10 minutes. They did have a shuttle that runs twice in the morning and twice at night and if it is full, they will make another trip. Aslo it is around $4.75 to take a taxi one way. If you check out and want to use the shuttle, keep a room key, the driver often asks to see the key.
I had read some reports on this hotel and was worried but for the price, I would stay there again. The staff was very pleasant and there is a Dennys attached but the service is sloooow.
In the past, I read reports that some people complained there room it was not clean, but ours was.
Some others mentioned a moldy smell which I didn't notice either but I was with some friends who were at the Doubletree and the Holiday Inn and they were complaining about that smell too and the Doubletree was over 100 a night and the Holiday inn around that.
The only thing I would do different is transportation. It was 40 dollars via taxi each way and I woul look for a cheaper way to get there. If you go tot he Days Inn Universal web site they are suppose to have a transportion service that you pay one way and the other way is free. You need to call and find out more. I would've tried it if I had realized how much a taxi was.
Anyway, I hope this has helped. The Days Inn isn't the same as the Royal Pacific. If you are expecting that you will be dissapointed but if location and price is the priority you will be satisfied.

We have stayed there a number of times, and found it acceptable. It is nothing fancy, just your typical Days Inn. There is a regular pool and a kiddie pool, a Denny's attached, a TGI Friday's next door, a little Tiki Bar at the pool, and you can't beat the price.

It is actually right across the street from the Universal parking garage, so you can walk there, it is not really that far. We have done it, even though we got free parking with our Annual Passes (we were going to be drinking at Citywalk, so didn't want to drive, even if it is just across the street).

It was fine. Our room smelled a little funky but a little room freshener spray fixed that up in a minute.

It's not deluxe by any means, but it's clean, comfortable and the pool is open late and is well kept.

It's "walkable" but in the heat or after a long day, you may not enjoy the walk, and part of the way you will be crossing main roads and cutting through the parking garage- may not be great for families with strollers/really young kids. Keep an eye on your children if you do walk it, as it's not a pedestrian area and cars won't be looking out for you, if you know what I mean. The cab ride is cheap and worth it.

Thanks for the replies on this folks - I'm staying here for 6 nights from the end of next week - I'm looking for something clean and handy and hope it is okay. I then am moving on to AKL so am hoping for a contrast!! I'd be interested to know of any good or bad location rooms to be aware of.

maleficent_man, what was your opinion of Days Inn? I am looking for a good offsite hotel near Universal.

For me it was fine for what I was looking for - a bed each night. The room was basic and the bathroom was not the nicest I have ever seen. It was perfect for what I was looking for - I would have been annoyed to have paid rack rate for it. Saying that, I would stay there again. Depends what you are looking for in respect of 'good' - depends whether you mean location, price, comfort etc.

It is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the entrance to citywalk - it is handy as long as you don't mind that length of a walk in the humidity!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Kirkman rd. It was in the off season (sept) but we got a two room suite for only $89. The hotel had free transportation every day to and from. A couple of days we were tired and didn't want to wait so we took a taxi for about $5

maleficent_man, thanks so much for the info.

OhioTony, thanks for the suggestion. Deciding where to stay near Universal is driving me crazy. I think I have a place picked out, and then I find bad reviews about it on the internet.
