December 2008, we spent a week at Disney. Since I now live in Miami, the rest of the party flew down and I drove us all up to Disney. We decided to leave a day early and stay at a hotel on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee.

We decided to stay at the Days Inn-Maingate East since it is within walking distance of one of our favorite hangouts outside of Disney, Old Town. With a coupon from Travel Saver, we got a standard room with two double beds for $29.99 + tax.

As soon as we checked in, they sent us straight over to a little counter where they immediately tried to get us to go to a timeshare presentation to get discounts at Disney and various other places. We were a little annoyed with this sales tactic, but managed to walk away without a timeshare sales appointment.

We had major difficulties finding our room because the staircase we were told to take went up to our floor, but on the other side of the building and the upstairs walkways don't wrap around the building. So we had to go all the way back downs stairs, luggage in hand, and walk all the way down to the other end of the building and up the stairs and all the way back down to the side we started on to get to our room.

When we did get in our room, finally, it smelled so musty and moldy and like that sort of cat urine smell that eminates from carpet that has been sitting wet for years. The sink faucet didn't work very well. Only a trickle came out and not because it was an energy-saver faucet. There was only one channel they allowed you to watch on TV unless you paid extra for more cable. Don't even bother trying to find a wifi signal. And ants were crawling everywhere.

Days Inn should be ashamed!

Thanks for the heads up. I had heard it was really bad quite a few years back, but I hadn't heard about it for a while. I can't believe that they haven't tried to fix it up ver the past 10 years.

Oh, no! Really? I just booked a room for my mom there for 3 nights :sad2: Anybody else been there in the last few days?
