I've spent 30 minutes using the search feature and haven't found the answer, so please forgive me but does could someone let me know the days AKL concierge has the Sunset Safari's? I would love to surprise my husband with an AKL concierge trip in Feb. to celebrate our 33 anniversary, but I want to make sure I select the right days to do the Sunset Safari. Thanks so much. :earsgirl:

Sorry posted in error, the information I had was about the sunrise safari not the sunset safari!!

This link is from the DIS Boards:

Hope it helps!!

I'm going Feb 2006 :cheer2: (not concierge ::sad:: )

Looking forward to the Disney Magic and hopeful of a little Disney pixie dust

(OK, I'd love to get a comp upgrade, but I'm too shy to ask!! )

Thanks, it's a very informative, useful link but I'm afraid it only talks about the Sunrise Safari. I'll keep searching, I know I read the days several months ago and printed it out but now I can't find the printout.

Hi again

I have just found that the email I received from AKL Concierge in August does also contain info about the Sunset Safari, I have copied it below for your reference, the days it mentions are Mon, Wed and Fri although of course this may change by Feb!

Wanyama Safari is an approximately 1 and a half hour safari experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge where a guest will experience a re-creation of a true African afternoon game drive. An opportunity to spend time with members from the Lodge animal programs team in a very personal environment. Learning about the natural history and management of the animal collection at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Incredible photo opportunities of the animals and architecture of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge that can only be experienced from our savannas . Your safari will conclude with a true African dining experience at JIKO, just like the lodges in Africa where a multi-course meal will await you which may include a wine pairing. You will be greeted in the Kilimajaro lounge around 4:00 p.m.. Safaris will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Guests must be 12 years of age or older. The price for the experience is $150 per person tax and gratuity included as well as a small contribution to the Disney Conservation Fund. 48 hour cancellation policy does apply so a credit card is required at time of booking. Wanyama Safari is not guaranteed with a Concierge Room but is an exclusive offering to concierge guests. Admission is limited to 8 Guests and can be reserved 90 days in advance of arrival.

Hope that helps

Nicola

I havent been on the Sunset Safari but we just did the Sunrise Safari in Oct and it was wonderful. The animals really seemed active very early in the am. The tour was great, and the buffet breakfast at Tusker house was very, very good.
The cost of that safari runs around $55 with tax incl.

I have been on the Wanyama safari in the afternoon. I wanted my 4 year old to go but the only way that they would allow him was for me to buy out the rest of the seats. $1200 later we had it all to ourselves.... they will do it on any evening as well and it is followed by a UNREAL family style dinner at Jiko. They bring out just about everything on the menu!!!! In total it was 5 of us and it was well worth it. I took a ton of pics that will post sometime soon. The giraffe almost licked my 4 year old!! They were that close.

We are doing the Sunrise Safari in January. Do you know how long it takes and apx what time breakfast was served? I honestly don't know why I want to know these things, but it seems that I do. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for all your replys; I am even more excited now! :earsgirl:

They actually leave at a couple of different times in the am. Our group met in the lounge at 7am but we didnt actually leave AKL til around 7:30. Your guide rides on the bus with you to tell you neat things and ask questions. The Safari itself probably lasted 45 min to a hour. They stopped a lot so we could take pictures. One of the male White rhino's came right over to our vehicle. It was cool but we had to move since there was a baby out and he was being protective of his family. Breakfast at Tusker House started at 9am and the chef came in to talk to us and tell us about the food. They had so many good things. We were stuffed. We were the last ones leaving the room after breakfast. They dont rush you out and even ask if we wanted them to make more bacon since the buffet was out.
I think your family is really going to enjoy it, I know ours did!
They also gave us Fast passes to ride KS again.

Our group is scheduled for 7 am also. We really are not in a hurry. We decided to stay CL because of the safari, so it will be a highlight of our stay! Can't wait! Thanks for the response. :goodvibes
