quasi-arbitrary divisions of true time contrived by man, mostly based on the cycle of the moon and sun.

did you know july and august are named for julius and augustus caesar? these guys just decided they deserved their own months. and right in the middle of it all. and they had to get the maximum number of days in each.

you know no other consecutive months have the same number of days, let alone the maximum?

and what did that do for september, october, november and december which if you study their etymological roots suggest they're the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth months respectively? it pushed them over by TWO!
