I got up at 5:30 singing It's a Small World! Ready to be back in a Disney park and watch the kids be amazed again
We were all ready and DH (have I said that he is a slave to order and an agenda?) went downstairs to cash travellers checks. I called friends that were at WDW at the same time to see what their plans were.. they were a day behind us and I was hoping the rain let them catch up. They were planning on doing MGM. By the time DH returned me and the kids had decided to chuck Epcot and head over to MGM. I really wanted to do the RnRC with our friends. I knew they are a little intimidated by coasters and we had had a great time at Disneyland a couple of years ago. Surprisingly, DH said.. K! Off to MGM.. I was so proud of our flexiblility!! Tried not to think of the months I had spent planning and kinda glad not to be in Epcot for the EE crowd.
MGM surprised us when we entered. Such a different atmosphere.. just like walking down a city street. We headed straight for RnRC (our friends were running late) and the ToT. 15 min lines on RnR.. yay!!!! Now, Brooke has never been on a fast coaster and she was nervous. I was nervous when we took out in the cars too! I had no idea it would be that fast!! I loved it!!! Great smooth ride and the music is awesome. Got off to a smiling brooke and we were all pumped and ready to go again!!! ToT was next....scary thought. I almost chickened out before getting on the elevator.. I wanted to. I have been on the freefall at six flags and DO NOT like that feeling! But heck.. I can survive a little terror if it means the kids get a funky picture of Mom screaming her lungs out. Whewww..... that about covers it. Waiting for the big drop was the worst part.. not knowing if it was little bump down or the fallllll. I got off shaking like a leaf, and yes the pic was funky.. me with my nose squished up. DH and DS thought the whole thing was a hoot and tried to talk me and DD into going again. Im not sure they will ever get us on there in the future!!
We headed back to meet our friends but didnt see them
Then we were off to Indiana Jones, Sounds Dangerous and Star Tours. Loved the Stunt show!!! Sounds dangerous was cute and we all had fun on star tours. DD loved the animatronic robot that is "piloting"
Next was a stop at pizza planet to see if Matt could find aliens that were small and squeaky. No such luck... why cant we find them anywhere? We all ate lunch.. the service was fast, there was plenty of seating in the air cond. and the pizza was good too. The kids played video games for awhile and we ran into our friends
They were just getting there and we decided to continue our tour of the park and meet up later.. it's so hard to get two families on the same schedule.
Backlot tour.. we really liked it, but wondered why the CMs had picked three people who didnt speak English to participate and obviously didnt provide an interpreter for them. I didnt know whether to laugh or be embarrassed when they didnt understand the instructions. The show gave us some good insight to the real world of movies, and DD about had a cow when the vehicle was sliding around on the back lot!!! We stopped to see the Hunchback of Notre Dame show... DD loved it.. the rest of us were bored. I didnt know the performers sang their own songs and was impressed with their voices.. it was so hot and they did a really good job.
Next stop... Al's toy barn to see Woody and Buzz. Too cute.. love the way the stamp their sigs on the paper. DS is a huge Buzz fan and it made his day!!
We took a break and had Dad's Super Sundae's at 50's Prime Time. We definately want to eat a meal here the next time we go.
Lets see... Millionaire... cool. I think they were wrong on an answer though.. who founded Mcdonalds? The plaque in ours says it was Ray Crok, but the "right" answer was Dick and ? McDonald. I think its cute how they have you ask a total stranger!
Next was.... hmmm... not sure I remember..lol.. my days are running together, but we did make it back to the RnRC. Our friends chickened out.. they had just came off the ToT and it did them in too! Again we tired out early.. about 8:30 and decided to leave.
Day 5: Finally Epcot!!! The pics at the gate are wonderful!!! I really loved Spaceship Earth.. we walked right on as soon as we entered the park. We stayed in Future World most of the day... Epcot is HUGE! I had no idea. I was soooo tired, happy and we were taking it easy, but I was worn out. Honey I Shrunk the Audience.. could do that over and over. Disney has a way of doing 3D!! The kids spent some time playing in the fountains. Body Wars and the Living Seas were two of our favorites
We debated a long time about going over to see Blast! because DS is such a trumpet fanatic, but we all admitted at 6:00 that we were tired. I'm not sure we will choose to visit Epcot again on future trips unless it's to see Illuminations or just to stop in and do a couple of things. We were totally overwhelmed by the amount to see and our urge to see it all. The Sunshine Season Food Fare was great counter service.. reasonable and we ate too much. I wish I could have a week to just browse Epcot and take in the sights... I know there is a lot there, but it involves engaging your mind and body..hehe.. by day 5 I had no body left and my mind could only concentrate on simple images consisting of mouse ears and road signs
To all who do this park and get it right.. congrats! It kicked my butt.
Day 6: Space Shuttle... awesome.. great... outstanding. We are real fans of the Shuttle and the space program. I couldnt believe there were people on the end of that bright orange candle!!! It was worth the early morning and drive just to hear and feel.. to see the cars pulling over and people looking up. The whole highway stopped for ten minutes and I have to say I was proud that there is still something that can stop Americans in their tracks. We stood on the edge of the beach, everyone clapping and cheering.. people from all over the states and the world... indescribable. Took a good nap.. swam.. napped... got very very hungry and decided to take the kids to the RF Cafe. We got there at 7:30 and it was packed!!! Our reservations were for 95 minutes later.. ughhhh... We walked down to Planet Hollywood and after seeing the zoo and noise.. rude rude hosts and hostesses we headed back toward RFC. We were finally seated at 9:30. This meal was not as good as the one me and DH had earlier in the week. The waitress was too busy.. our food was an hour getting to us and the bill was $80 for two veggie burgers.. salads.. a kids burger and a half rack of Mojo Bones. Matt said the Mojo Bones was yummmmy. DH was a little steamed because he couldnt get 1000 Island dressing on his salad, yet they sell it in the gift shop!! The kids did love the atmosphere and DH entertained them by doing napkin and quarter magic tricks.. we had a great time together, but it wasnt because we were eating in the RFC
Thanks for letting me share our trip. I know the trip reports really helped us to focus on what we wanted to do and what was realistic.
One more day to go.. our last
