Monday (March 3) was the only cool day we had in Orlando. Temps were about 65 and they called for rain all day - but really only had a couple showers. We decided to head for the outlets and just wander today.
First stopped at the Premium Outlets off Intl. Drive. Beautiful outlet stores. Stinkerbelle was in a huff today because we weren't going swimming at the pool. We mostly looked at the stores. Nice sized Disney store there. Bought Stinkerbelle a "Barbie" rain poncho - weather was calling for another rainy day or two. (Of course it never rained again so we didn't even need it! But it was definitely worth $7 not to have any more rain!)
After the Premium Outlets we stopped at the Belz Outlet. I forget which annex has the Disney store but it was loaded with tourists avoiding the raindrops. We had lunch at the food court and then headed back to the hotel. All of us took a nap.
For dinner we went to Bahama Breeze on Intl. Drive. Had about a 15 minute wait and great food.
Tuesday (March 4) was our MK day! Hip hip hooray! This is my FAVORITE park. As we were driving to MK the raindrops were falling on the windshield and I was getting kind of upset thinking it would be another rainy day. The morning was cool and overcast but by the time we pulled into the parking lot it wasn't raining. Off to the happiest place on earth!
We walked into Mainstreet and there were characters signing autographs. DD was so excited to see Minnie so we waited politely in a lengthy line. There were about 2 kids ahead of Stinkerbelle when the CM announced that Minnie had to be in a show and led her away. Poor DD - I could tell she was a little bit upset but she didn't let it bother her. Quite a trooper when it was going to be her first autograph.
Off to the Dumbo do or die as the Unofficial guidebook calls it! Waited about 15 minutes and got the beloved "purple" Dumbo so we were off to a great start. Headed for Peter Pan and also had about a 10 minute wait. (Afternoon wait was 50 minutes I noticed later.) Same thing for Pooh and the Honey Pots. We did Small World with no wait. Then it was snack time for DD. She was in a great mood and we were getting smarter about this part.
Off to Ariel's Grotto for an autograph. Probably the longest line we had all day - 30-40 minutes? Worth it to me? Nope, not really, but to DD Ariel was her hero from that day forward! It was nice to have a face character that she could actually talk to. DD was telling us all that Ariel told her and it was really cute. She chatted very nicely to DD and after the wait we appreciated it. Beautiful young lady - had to pull Ike away. He wanted his picture taken too!
Headed for Toon Town to see Mickey and Minnie's houses. DD loves this. Not sure why - must be the kid thing! Waited in a line to see Mickey at the Judge's tent. DD was a little more nervous with Mickey but she did ok.
Off to Cosmic Rays for lunch. Lunch was fine but the counter service was extremely slow. Just the set up I guess. No one else seemed to have better luck at the other lines. Sat and listened to Sonny Eclipse as we ate and DD kept asking me whether or not Sonny was going to get up and walk. (She was a little nervous about that idea.)
Off to TTA - even though I really wanted to do Buzz, DD was scared of Buzz - that is a "boy" ride. (Good excuse.) Wait time was only about 20 minutes for Buzz . I tried to talk DH into going but he decided not to. DD was really nervous as TTA went through the Space Mountain part. Kind of a nice slow sit down ride but nothing to go out of your way for.
Off to the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. DD and DH went on it together. The CM never filled all of the carpets up - it was like she couldn't count right. Which was kind of strange when there was easily a 20 minute wait. Both DD & DH loved this ride.
Afterwards it was Mickey Mouse ice cream bar time. I don't know why we had never tried these before! YUMMY!
As we were walking out of the Adventureland area we noticed a line for something and it was Peter Pan and Wendy signing autographs. DD got both autographs and Peter told her a silly story and they were absolutely terrific in their characters. DD kept talking about how they really liked to talk! It was really special how they spent time with each group of kids. Kudos to those two CM's!
Headed for Bear Country Jamboree! This is so cute and I would be so sad if they ever decide to take it away. So Disney and fun for everyone. Nice way to sit down and relax in the afternoon too.
We took a ride on the Liberty Belle for the first time. I enjoyed it but we had hoped there would be places to sit and take the ride. I didn't realize you had to stand the whole time.
After the Liberty Belle we got on the train in Frontierland and rode till Mainstreet. We decided to beat the crush and see if any of our pictures were worth buying. As we were going into the Exhibition Hall we accidently ran into a CM loaded with helium balloons. A nice gentlemen said we had to stop and get DD a balloon so we kind of stopped and he said he was buying balloons for the first 10 kids he saw and DD could pick what ever color she wanted. DH and I were stunned and of couse DD was thrilled with her purple Mickey balloon. When we turned around the gentlemen was gone! I don't know who you are but that was certainly Disney magic at its best. Thanks mister - I know we won't forget your kindness that day! I only wish we had a chance to thank you in person.
Off to see the parade from just across the bridge at Liberty Square. Great place to see the parade from. DD used my camera to take a couple of pictures - should be interesting to say the least.
Stopped and looked at a couple stores and then headed for Pecos Bills for dinner. We split a great chicken salad and fries. DD had Cheezits.
Found a good spot in front of the castle to watch Tinkerbelle fly and the fireworks. The day had turned out to be clear and sunny and around 80 - just perfect.
Headed back to HIFS and the daily pool session. It felt great after all the walking. Fell asleep as we hit the pillows dreaming of the wonderful "magical" day we had at MK!
Thanks for listening!
