Daydripping ideas around Mrytle Beach?

One day we will be driving to Patriots Point in SC, but would like some ideas within 1 hour drive of Mrytle beach for myself, dh and 5 year old boy. Is there anything not tourist in MB that is worth seeing or doing?

Brookgreen Gardens we go in the evening when they have children's night.
Alligator Adventure be sure to watch them feed the gators
Several waterparks offer specials at night for family discounts
SC Aquarium is suppose to be good in a Charleston. We are driving down in Aug. when we are at MB.
Fireworks still Broadway one night I think during the week.
We hang out on the beach and just have fun at our house.

You may want to check out the children's museum of South Carolina located in Myrtle a Beach.

I prefer Ripleys aquarium at Broadway at the beach over the aquarium in Charleston. It is about the same price and has more animals. There is also a small zoo in Socastee.

A great idea for a 5 year old boy would be a pirate adventure aboard the Sea Gypsy at Crazy Sisters Marina in Murrells Inlet. They have a good website with all the info, just google Myrtle Beach Pirates Adventure. They also have a Facebook page, Pirate Adventures of Myrtle Beach, SC that has lots of pics and info also.

I haven't been to the aquarium in Myrtle Beach, but we locals think the one in Charleston is overpriced. I agree with the suggestion for Brookgreen Gardens.

Patriots Point is a great place to visit. Another suggestion would be the harbor cruise to Fort Sumter.

Alligator Adventures!!! My 5 yr old LOVED LOVED LOVED it last year!!!! I would go back in a heart beat! so much to see and do!
