I was think maybe giftcards to our Supertarget. That way they could either get something fun or buy some food. But if I do that - how much? There are only 2 teachers. One of them is a vegetarian, non-nut eater. She's kind of picky so homebaked goodies wouldn't work. Any other ideas?

While I usually like to pick out gifts for teachers -- this year I gave in to the gift card thing. I got all 4 teachers $15 gift cards to Books A Million . .. they can get a book, coffee, etc. (I have alot of other people to buy for so this was my limit this year) DS's teacher did get a Mickey Mouse Christmas cookie jar (she is Disney crazy like me).

Although against my inner feelings -- I am guessing that most people would rather get a gift card and get what they want. This is really not my idea of gift giving -- might as well give them $$ -- but I will go with the flo.

For the last 8 years we have given ours Gift Certs for restaurants..I figure she deals with kids all week long for some very long days..she deserves a night where she doesn't have to cook.

In the past I have done crochet projects for DS's teachers. But this year I have had zero time because of work. So this year I am going with a recipes in a bottle theme. Target has these really cute bottles that have all the dry ingredients for cookies and brownies, and I think even one for muffins. My son picked out what he wanted to give to each teacher. His two main teachers are getting the bigger ones (one is getting a star one and the other is getting a tree one) and his two main floater teachers are getting smaller ones that look like the old fashioned milk bottles. I think I will also get a GC for each from Starbucks to go along with them. And for the rest of the floaters, I have two containers of snack stuff (individually wrapped chocolate covered pretzles and rice krispy type treats) that they can put in the teacher's lounge. DS picked that out, too.

I'm a 1st grade teacher & gift cards always get my vote! :thumbsup2

I'm getting DS8's teacher a $20.00 or $25.00 gift card to Target or Borders & my DD12 in middle school has 7 teachers.....each is getting a $5.00 gift card to Caribou Coffee (kind of like a Starbucks around here).

I work in a special ed preschool class and we love getting gift cards of any kind. Today, one our our families gave us movie passes. :)

I'm not going to be working next Friday the 15th since that's the day we're leaving for WDW! Lots of our families bring us gifts on that day since it's the last day before vacation. I told the other teachers that if any families give us homemade goodies that they should be sure and take mine or share them with other teachers in the school. I would hate to come back to a drawer full of moldy stuff! Seriously, we love and appreciate any gifts from our families!

How does this sound? There is a Boston Market across the street from my DD daycare and I was thinking of getting a big certificate so the owner (family run business) could buy lunch for the staff. And then have some smaller individual gifts.

Last year I gave my DDs' preschool two gift certificates to local restaurants so that the staff could buy lunch. It was a hit!

This year I'm giving my DD's school teacher a homemade cheesecake and a $20 Target card. I'm giving other DD's preschool a bucket full of individually wrapped snacks like carmel and chocolate popcorn plus a $20 gift card to the local discount store (where they buy a lot of supplies).

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I will go with the gift card idea.

Last year I had Dominos deliver 6 pizzas (they were $5 each) so that the teachers from DS's previous class, current class and future class could all eat. I think maybe ONE of the teachers thanked me. That really annoyed me - I didn't do it for the thanks of course,, but it would have been nice. His current teachers are a lot more appreciative. I took them muffins one morning and they kept thanking me.

We buy our sons teacher’s $25.00 gift cards to Target. There are five teachers for his room, so it gets a bit pricy, but for all they do all year it’s well worth it.

I went the unconventional way with my dd's teacher.....I asked her if she had a wish list. I told her that I didn't want to get her anything that she didn't need or want so I just flat out asked her. It's too nerve racking trying to figure out what she would like and worrying about if she would like it. I know that teachers spend a lot of there own money on class supplies, but our closest teacher supply stores are 30 minutes plus away and our Walmart doesn't have much. I don't know anything about her personally, so I took the easy way out.

Each family in my DD class (4 year old preschool) are contributing $15 - $20 each, there are 3 teachers and while we were originally going to get school supply items we found out that the school fund now takes care of that. We decided to get them each a gift card at the local mall. That way they could choose which store to splurge at -- books, candle, clothing, etc.
