After reading several threads here, I found one poster who said something very poignant concerning Universal's attitudes towards the day trippers to the parks.
I can well udnerstand that sometimes "perks" come at a cost. I certainly have no objection to Universal giving preferential treatment to those staying on-site with FOTL access. I mean, I shouldn't gripe because with the aquistion of a Universal Express pass espress access, I too get the same preferential treatment if it is only for that limited period of tiem rather then the entire day.... The problem I have however is how the CM's move people through the two queues .. the standard line versus the express.
For anyonme who has visited the parks, the express line generally feeds into the attraction fairly close to when the actuall vehicle is being boarded. We stood in the regular line one day on Popeye's and Bluto's Bilge Rat rafting advaneture (something like that ) .. in any event we noticed that the line would move consistenatly .. but slow .. and then every now and then just come to a dead stop and remain that way for a long period .. Well just as we appraoched the part of the line where people are entering the vehicles, we were stopped and the CM started to let the express pass / FOTL folks in. Well this went on for a good 10 mins when I asked the CM.. how does this work? DO we stand here indefinately? Well he says something like "I honor all FOTL passed regardless and time stamped passes 10 mins before they are stamped and up to 10 mins after the experation time" .. Well I shot him a look and said.. "What??? based on that criteria, we could be standing here as long as a contiuous stream of people are shoing up on the express line .. to which he replied "No, if that happens, I will stop them and start letting the regulars through" .. So, after another 5 mins goes by (and trust me , 5 min is a LONG time to be waiting with kids) he finally stops the express line and lets us go .. Seems to me that it's left up to the discretion of the CM .. which quite frankly I think is a lousy system. Do I think it should be more equituitible. Not entirely, because again I agree that certain perks being what they are, should come with some advantages .. but I still think there needs to be a better way. Clearly leaving it up to the discretion of some CM is not my idea of being close to fair treatment. It really made me feel third rate..
