Hey everyone. I used to post about my one day trips to WDW when I had PAP's. Well the passes have since expired and I dont get to WDW as often as I would like. I had the chance to go MK to see a special presentation of Mickeys Philharmagic. This is my report of the day
Cast:
Me: Your trip reporter. 25(26 in 2 weeks
) wo loves any and all things Disney
My DH: my loyal hubby who accepts the fact that I get giddy over seeing and character in costume.
My Cousins: Burris is a CM at the MK in the Emporium. Merryl is his wife who is a SeaWorld Employee. Both are Disney lovers...you should see their house. Its like a Disney Store. I mean that.
This trip started out on Monday evening when I received a call from Merryl asking if we were off from work on Thursday and would we like to go to the MK for the day and see Mickeys Philharmagic. Of course we would..LOL....
Fast forward to Thursday. DH and I live about 30mins from WDW so we arrived about 10:30. We parked pretty close to TTA so we decided to walk. There was a long line for the monorail, so we took the ferry over. We were pleasently surprised to see Chip and Dale arive on the boat with us. It was a nice way to start the day. After docking, we went through security(which in my opinion, is a joke) and met up with Merryl. She showed us her brick which she had just cleaned up, and handed us our ticket to get in. We went in quickly and as we came through the tunnel, I was shocked to see so many characters out. They were everywhere. We made a quick potty stop and headed to the barber shop to see Burris who was getting a hair cut. My DH, myself and Merryl all got a sprinkle of pixie dust, which I wore all day!!
We told Burris we would catch up with him in 20 mins.
Merryl headed us up Main Street where we stopped to talk to the Mayor and see the Dapper Dans. An aside, one of the Dapper Dans looked very familiar to me as I couldnt place him. The I rembered, I have seen him at PI at the Adventurers Club. One of my fav characters, was nice to see him at MK. Well the Dan's hopped the trolly and left. While Merryl was talking to the mayor, Burris walked up so we continued up Main Street. The crowds were pretty light and we had a nice stroll. One cute comment overheard, a family was getting a pic and a bee flew around one of the ladies. The man said, "Dont worry, its a Dsiney bee." I laughed and said to my DH does that mean it wont sting you..LOL..
We all walked through the castle to FantasyLand and walked right to MP(Mickeys Philharmagic). We were like giddy kids..LOL...The theater has been completely redone. Lots of deep blue and reds. We waited with a group of about 30-40 people to get into the show. They warned us that all was not perfect yet as they were still tweaking it. We went into the show and sat in the midde of the 4th row. The screen is huge, goes about half way around the theater. Goofy comes on and he is the "stage manager". The sounds are awsome. It sounds like he is walking around back stage!!. The show starts with Mickey prepping for the concert, but Donald changes all that when he puts on the sorcerers hat. We are brought on a journey of sight sound and smell through Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, Peter Pan, Lion King and Little Mermaid and also some Fantasia. I wont give it away, but it is a VERY WELL put together show. The animations are awsome and make sure you dont have a stuffy nose when you see this show. The entire audiance applauded when the show was over.
We did check out the gift shop, which is chock full of Donald merchandise. Burris had to get ready for work, but we did have some time for a quick ride on Pooh. This happened to be the longest we waited for any ride of the day...15mins. We decided to go check out Space Mountain after visiting with Pooh. We walked to TommorrowLand.
We said goodbye to Burris as he needed to head down to work. The 3 of us headed into the mountain. FP was not running on any rides we saw. We basically waited about 2 mins to get on the ride. After our journey to space, we went on the TTA. We took a nice tour of Tommorrowland. We saw that Buzz had no line, so we rode Buzz. I will not repeat my pitiful score, but it was because of my gun. It was broken, it really was. My DH pulled 555,330. I was proud of him. After defeating Zurg, we moved on to Adventureland.
We passed by a few characters, and went on Pirates. We sang and repeated the ride. I am sure others in out boat wanted to kill us...WE WANTS THE REDHEAD!! LOL. Anyway, when we got off, Hook and Smee were out, so since I am a villian fan, I got my pic with the pair. We continued on to get some food. We went to Pecos Bill's but was too crowded, so we went to Colonial House.
We had a nice meal, and sat and recharged a bit in the cool building. Let me just say that it was beautiful weather today. We also heard tons of people say they were glad they were here in WDW and not at home dealing with Isabel. After the meal, we went on Haunted mansion. I love this ride, really do. I also saw the pet graveyard for the very first time. The parade was going to be starting soon and we wanted to get to Splash. First we stopped and got a soda, then moved on to Splash. This of course was also a walk on.
After going to the Laughing Place, I wanted to see Mickey, the big cheese himself. We decided to ride the train so we went up to the train. We also looked around the train station, something else I never got the chance to do. We rode the train over to Toontown and went to see Mickey with about a 2min wait. We were told by the CM that Mickey was in the next room over so that was our next stop. I got a pic with Minnie, Chip and Dale. Was fun. Minnie dragged my poor DH into one of the pics. Got to love her! I really wanted more villian pics, but none were out sadly. We went over to TommorrowLand, and got an ice cream.
After another refreshing break, we decided to go over and see Burris. Unfortunatly, he was on break. It was getting late as both DH and I had to work the next day, plus we wanted to be home for the opening of Survivor! So Merryl asked us if we wanted to go to Cast Connections...Sure we did.
It took a bit of time to get there, but it was worth it. This is the single greatest store of all time. For those not familiar, with Cast Connections, it is a store that is for CM's. They are allowed to bring in up to 3 guests. The store is the place that old merchadise, damaged merchandise, and anything else deemed unsuitable to the general public goes. It is a trailer that is located in the back of the MK. When we walked in, we were told there is a special going on, all shirts $1. COOL!!! So we head over to the shirts. They are basically in huge bins. You have to pick through them. Yes some are damaged. Yes some are ugly. But many are very nice and minimal mess. Stains that come out in the wash. I was mostly looking for polo shirts. I found 2. My DH found a really nice Grumpy one and I found a golf shirt that had the D logo. I also found a Disney Villians T-shirt. My favorite find though...I found a navy blue pullover sweatshirt, with Disney's Yacht Club Resort embroided on the front. This is a $68 shirt. I payed $1!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE. Its fun to go there and pick through the bins. All hats were also a $1, but Merryl had just bought me a DH hats from here a few days prior, so we passed. I wish we would have had more time to pick through the bins and find things. I spent a total of $4.23 and got 4 beautiful shirts. This place was awsome. They had so many things there and I didnt get a chance to look at a lot of things. I cant wait to go back now. Sadly it was time to get going. I had a bad headache and we needed to get home to let the doggies out and watch Survivor. So we said goodbye to Merryl(who by the way stayed for 2hrs after we left her, LOL) and headed home.
In closing it was an AWSOME day. We both needed the time away and it was just a perfect day. Sept is the BEST time to go to the parks. No crowds whatsoever.
Well I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any questions.
