So many questions I know.......hope you dont mind but as I am completley inexperienced and a newbie to DLP!!!

We were thinking of doing a day trip to Paris but wanted to do it ourselves rather than doing the organised trip from DLP.

Has anybody done this before ..and give ma advice on the following

. where do I pick the train up to get into Paris

and also any tips or advice on which metro stops to stop at and where to go?

would be really appreciated as I am getting more confused by the minute!

thanks again for all your invaluable help

Hi

We did this ourselves when we went to Disney last year. You get the train from the station at Disney (marne la vallee), and I think we got off at Chatelet les Halles in Paris. The staff at the ticket desk will give you all the info you need re train times etc. I think from memory it was RER line A, but you would need to check that. We bought a return ticket that took us into Paris, and that we could use for the day on the metro system once there. It cost 42 euros for a family of four (about £30), and once in Paris we could use the metro to all the touristy places. Definately worth a day there IMO.

It is RER A (the red line), and the only RER that leads out to DLP. It costs 6€30 one way, per person to get into the center of Paris. As suggested, I would get off at Les Halles, and from there you can pick up about 10 different lines to lead you all around the city.

As for where to go - that all depends on what you want to see. :) Bir Hakeim, the "usual" stop for the Eiffel Tower is closed until April. I would get off at Trocadero and walk across the bridge - the views are spectacular.

Sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but a quick question, is there any benefit in booking in advance or do you just turn up and get on the next train?

Cheers, Andy

Just turn up and get on it. If you want to hop around the city using the metro consider a Mobilis zone 1 to 5 ticket - cheaper than the paris visitee ticket.

I'd suggest buying your tickets the night before ~ you'll easily queue for at least 20 minutes in the morning otherwise. :)

I did Paris on my last trip... never again!:scared:

I didn't want to go in the first place because I'd been with school years ago and I remembered how much of a dump it was but the OH didn't believe me.

OK so everyone goes because they want to see the Eiffel Tower and the Arch de Triomphe, that's it. I don't understand the love affair and what people see in Paris, unless people go to a different Paris we visited!:confused3

Few tips...

Never sit down and let anybody draw a picture of you, we saw a couple fall for this and it cost them 90 euro for the drawing otherwise the 'artistes' (conmen) call the Police... it was only a characature and took less than 5 minutes, the guys then tried to do me and the OH and we walked away very quickly.:scared1: :scared1:

Watch your bags around the eiffle tower and the Louvre, people sell souveniers as a destraction whilst kids pickpocket/ rummage through bags.

OK Paris might have some nice parts, I'm yet to find them, the OH came out and said he didn't enjoy 1 minute of Paris and he would have rather have spent another day in the parks, but I suppose you have to experience it at least once.

Oh, what a shame. :grouphug:

I absolutely adored Paris and only wish it hadn't taken me over 40 years to get there! :rotfl: Even my DDs who were totally against visiting the first time fell in love with it and couldn't wait to go again.

Just proves we're all very different ~ the world would be a boring place if we all felt the same. :goodvibes

Sorry you had a bad time :sad2: I have never experienced anything like this personally.
