Day trip to LA planning help please!

We will be in Anaheim for a week, have a car and I was planning on going to LA for the day, see the walk and some touristy stuff as well as take DD to American girls store. Can anyone give me an idea of timings and plan for getting there, where to park etc. Is this a feasible plan?

It really varies on where you want to go, the time of day and weekday or weekend. LA as in like downtown LA? or like Santa Monica or Redondo Beach?

You can get driving distances and times on MapQuest. Just add 50% to the estimated time. If it says one hour, I would allow 1-1/2 hours.

But if it's rush hour, double the time.
