Barring some unforeseen problem, I'm going to be in Paris in the middle of April. Would it be possible to take a day trip to Disneyland (one park), or would I drown in my own logistical issues?

I'm pretty sure I'd be able to do it parks-wise, as my father and I once did one-park Anaheim in six hours, with Indiana Jones twice, AND made it on a six pm United Shuttle from Orange County to San Francisco, and my friend and I rode the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in Orlando seven times in one afternoon when we were staying off-site.

I'm in good physical shape, or at least will be by then, and I can read French. Also, I've been to Paris before, and I'm good with public transportation, so I'll be okay on the RER.

So, will I be able to do it?

When we were in Paris we made a day trip to DLP. Taking the RER there was easy and quick.

I'm not familiar with school vacation calendars in Europe so I don't know if your dates will be affected by Easter travel. Regardless, I recommend that you plan your day and concentrate on attractions that are unique to or different from DLR in Anaheim and WDW.

Have fun. It's definitely worth visiting.

We had a day-trip from Paris last July, and took the metro from the middle of Paris to Disney. It took about an hour and a half from our stop, and was easy.

The thing to look out for was to make sure you get the right ticket. You need one that says it goes to zone 6. Having used the metro around central paris for a few days, and just bought a book of tickets, we didn't realise we needed a different ticket type for going out that far, and had to pay an extra 50Euro fine!! (and that was reduced because we were English!) French people had to pay 50Euro's each!

You will be able to do it easily - a lot of people do day trips into Paris from DLP.
You need RER line A to Marne la Vallee (Chesny) which stops right at the gates of DLP. You can get onto this line at Charles de Gaulle Etoile, Chatelet, Auber and Gare de Lyon or Nation (all of which are in Central Paris).
Weve usually fund its taken about 40mins from there to DLP and will cost approx £13 for a return ticket or you could get a mobilis which will include the metro as well for the day for about the same price.
The parks will probably open at 10 so try and be there for 9.30 and if possible buy your ticket in advance so you dont have to queue at the ticket booths at the park

I was reading the Unofficial Guide today, which said that one-day tickets are the same whether for one park or for two. Is that true? If it is, I may attempt both parks in one day and try for a record on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I haven't park-hopped in ages, but I'm totally a veteran. There's only three or four rides in each park that are different from the US that I'd want to ride anyway.

what's that? :confused3

Indiana Jones is different in all the parks it's in. I can't remember the rest of the rides.

AS it's now near the end of May what we all want to know is whether you went for the day trip in April and how you found it?
I hope you managed to find time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the details on your whistlestop tour as well as fit in your favourite rides. I was a bit concerned when I first read your post that you were going to try and attempt all the rides in both parks not just a few favourites!

Just found your trip report!
I hope maybe you'll give it another try in a cooler/quieter period if you ever get the chance.
I'm sure the tiredness and heat didn't help. I get very grumpy if I'm hot and it took me years of suffering from sun/heatstroke as a teenager to realise that I needed to give in, slow down (not a natural state) drink more water, wear a hat and avoid the worst of the heat.
I hope in your enforced rest you managed to do some good detail/people spotting!
