We were very tempted to just put on our swimsuits and head to the pool and beach again today, but we decided to be good DW tourists and go to a park instead! We went to AK, and you know how everyone says that AK is warmer than the other parks? Well, the other parks were around 85º today and AK was 350º...we were miserable. We decided to forgo the stroller b/c there were massive lines of people waiting for one. We went to Festival of the Lion King, which was great as always, then afterwards we met a bunch of characters in Camp Minnie-Mickey! It was really nice, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Chip 'n Dale and Daisy Duck all had their own separate greeting areas, with nice orderly lines. Not at all the 'mob scene' you usually see at MK...we saw all the characters in about 30 minutes. When DS2 saw Mickey, he hugged him right away! No shyness! Then when Mickey stood up to sign DD7's autograph book, DS grabbed him around the legs and hugged him again! Mickey stooped down to hug DS2 again...the people in line behind us were saying, "Awwww..." it was very cute. Come to think of it, maybe they were saying, "Awwww...come on, buddy hurry up and finish with Mickey already!!" Anyway, I finally peeled DS2 off of Mickey and we did other things...we did the Pocahontas show, which we'd never done, it was smaller and much more personal then Lion King...we ate lunch at Pizzafari---2 thumbs up! It was great. The kids and I had pizza which was hot and delicious, DH had some sort of sandwich which he declared was "the best sandwich he'd ever eaten!"
The sad note of the day is when we ventured into the tacky, garish, carnival rides area over in Dinoland. All I can say about it is, icckkk. One reason I've always thought Disney was so special is the THEMES, everything fits where it's supposed to...these rides, Primeval Whirl and TriceraTop Spin, DO NOT fit into AK in any way. There was LOUD hillbilly music coming out of there, no animals that I could see, and games to play where you had to pay, just everything you can't imagine seeing at Disney. I was mortified.

We all went back to the hotel and fell into a coma. I think the heat wore us out! We slept like 2-3 hours. We had plans to meet up with Kim, a friend of mine from a Disney board, and her family that evening, so when we finally woke up, I called her at the Villas at WL. She and her family were going to come to our hotel and we'd watch the fireworks together. We went on to the beach and waited for them, not knowing how they were coming...for some reason I thought they'd take the ferryboat, so we were all watching the water. Well, they came up from behind us...I thought it was them b/c I could see the 2 kids in the stroller, but it was nearly dark at this point and I wasn't SURE, so I called out, "Is that you???" Which Kim said, yes, she was her. We sat out on the beach for a while, but none of us had super-duper bug repellant on, so we were slowly being eaten by some very annoying bugs...I ended up with about 20 bites on my feet! We went inside and showed them our room, and then went to the lounge to watch fireworks. It was so nice meeting Kim and her family! Our kids played well together (except for that one brawl between DS2 and Parker over the little kiddie chair; DS2 was very vicious and I was embarassed, but Parker didn't seem hurt; sorry Parker!) We tried to get pics of all of the kids sitting together, but my DD7, being the only girl, apparently had cooties, b/c none of the boys wanted to sit by her! Even her own brother!

We had a blast...Kim and her family had to go eat dinner, they had just arrived in DW that day...so we said our goodnights and headed our separate ways......

I know that if DH & I had been there, it definitely would have been an "Awwww, how cute" moment. :D
And, we're happily childless.;)

What is it about the Animal Kingdom anyway? It always seems so hot when we go there too. :)

Love the story about your toddler with Mickey, definitely an "awww...that's so cute" moment.
