Part 2.....
We ate and drank as we walked under Spaceship Earth and toward the stage area that was set up in front of the fountains. They had an area blocked off with ropes for the big wigs and we saw several celebs in there NSync guys again, Diana Degarmo, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alan Cumming, Robbie Knievel, and other familiar faces I couldnt place a name to.
Before we knew it Putty from Seinfeld, Patrick Warburton, walked out on the stage to begin the tribute to Soarin. (dh loved that because hes a big Putty fan) It was a touching moment where a young boy dreams of flying then suddenly is lifted into the air to fly among the clouds then overhead men parachuted out of an airplane right over the park! Totally cool!
After that show everyone was free to do whatever. They had an area set up as Cinco di Mayo with food from the San Angel Inn then another area by the Living Seas with seafood from Coral Reef, another area with food from Ohana, one from Yachtsman Steakhouse, it was a feeding frenzy!! (see menu pictures above)
Inside The Land they had massage areas set up as you first walk-in, sort of airport style. Of course Soarin was the star for the evening, but to me the biggest surprise was the new Sunshine Seasons food court! Wow, this place is incredible!!! And the food was amazing!!!!
I cant imagine eating anywhere else in Epcot for counter service now. Chef Tony came over to our table and talked to us while we ate
he said they stripped the entire building down to the dirt floor and started over. He also told us about the new Garden Grill, I didnt know it had changed to ala carte items, and of course we bragged on the amazing food.
Luckily we still had room to try this food because it ended up being some of the best we had that night. Though the steak from Yachtsman was amazing, and dh loved the seafood over at the Living Seas, but this sure was a close second. He said the food wasnt changed for the party; its the same items they serve everyday. WOW!
The main event that night was Bare Naked Ladies in concert down by Journey into Imagination.
We caught part of the show, but also wanted to get plenty of time to walk around and see all the neat stuff. This martini bar made completely of ICE was pretty impressive:
A few other pictures of people we met
The night ended with an amazing fireworks show set off from the roof of The Land.
Another amazing night that well never forget!!! What a special privilege to be able to attend these events. Hopefully we will be invited to come back next year for the big Expedition Everest event!!
Day 8 coming soon!!!!
