We arrive (at the airport) at 10:00 am on a Saturday (in August). Would you try to make it to the park that afternoon?

We have a PS (or whatever they're called now ;) ) at CP on Sunday morning and I kind of want to make that the first visit to the MK (we're going with young kids). Would you try to make another park? Or just hang out at the pool?

We're going for a week so I know I have lots of time there, but I also want to maximize and not miss anything. We'll have to have lots of down time b/c of the heat.

TIA

we usually like to just hang out at the hotel on the first day, maybe go to DTD. Since each previous stay we have been at a different resort, we like to explore it when we first get there. next year we will be making our first return trip to a resort, so our plans may change, but I imagine we will still just hang out.

we rarely do a park the arrival day - but we usually get there around 3 or 4 hang out and check out the resort and either go to DTD or Ohana's for dinner.

hang around your resort and book dinner at ohanas

its a perfect first day

We usually do the resort and nice dinner rather than a park - HOWEVER - since you are arriving in the morning (we usually arrive around 5pm), I'd say you should get settled in, then head to Epcot and do a few things! Watch Illuminations to kick off your trip.

This will be our first trip in August, and although we tend to be early birds, I am planning mostly evenings at the parks to avoid that midday sun. We went this past September and it was hot, hot, hot, but we got used to it in a day or two. Drink lots of water!!!!!!

Well, normally I suggest going to MK the first day, but since you have CP PS's for Sunday, I'd suggest maybe just hanging around the resort (swimming), resort hopping, or go down to Downtown Disney for some Prepark shopping. Another option is to head over to Epcot and take in Illuminations :) Happy planning!
