Hi All
We are ubering back towards LaX on a Saturday am. Our flight leaves at 9pm but DD wants to see LA.
I’m thinking we almost need a throwaway hotel in LA with a free shuttle to the airport. Then the boys could stay there and DD and I could sightsee for the day.
DS and I years ago booked a sightseeing trip from Anaheim and just stayed in LA but we didn’t fly out until the next am. We are taking carryons only but still it will be a pain in the …
I thought about renting a car for the day but I have no idea where I’d be parking and she’s not the best copilot.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Any idea what you might want to see in LA? That could help you narrow down hotel choices and if you need a car.

We stayed at this awesome hotel called The Inn At Playa Del Rey. It's 10 minutes from the LAX, but you'd never know it. It's so cute, it reminds me of a B&B in New Hampshire. It's on a busy street but the back of the hotel overlooks wetlands.

Tammy, hotels at airports often let you rent day rooms. And I imagine they'd have shuttles to the airport.

As Pluto said, do you know what you want to see in LA? That would help with advice on itinerary and transportation options.

I think we will prob just do a tour I know she wants to see rodeo drive Beverly Hills walk of fame .. the touristy stuff.
So we just need to get to a pick up point for one

I suggest calling a couple of hotels near the airport and asking them about (1) day rooms, (2) airport shuttles, and (3) tour bus pickups. I wouldn't be surprised if you can find everything you want.

We stayed at a holiday inn express right next to the Lowe’s at Hollywood and Highland. It was inexpensive. the location was great for the Chinese theater, tour pickups, the subway. We easily managed to get to the labrea tarpits which, pinks hot dogs. We could see the hollywood sign from the mall that was right there. It was a very easy drive to the observatory. We did take a tour that drove us past famous hotels and the studios but it was pretty boring tbh because we drove or walked past a lot of the things they showed us

If you're thinking about the Walk of Fame, consider the TCL Forecourt. That's where all the handprint, footprints, and other prints are. I thought it was much better than the Walk of Fame. I highly reccomend Grifith Observatory/Grifith Park. It has some great views of the Hollywood sign. I haven't been since they redid it, but I loved the Warner Brothers Studio tour and I've heard the new version is fantastic.

Just to clarify for visitors, TCL (Grauman's) is right on Hollywood Boulevard, so it's in the midst of Walk of Fame stars. Of course there may be stars that Tammy's daughter wants to see that aren't near TCL (and Disney's beautiful El Capitan Theatre), but Tammy and DD could easily both visit TCL and do part of the Walk of Fame.
