We don't own DVC yet, as we are looking for a resale now. So sorry if this has been asked before. I haven't found the answer.

I keep seeing people say that reservations are often booked day by day. My understanding is you can book 11/7 months from your check out day?
Does day by day booking simply mean that you pretend that you are checking out after your first night, and then call each day to add the next check out day?

Sorry, just trying to understand all the nuances.

day-by-day means that - for peak times (like food&wine for the epcot resorts) or relatively rare accomodations (cheap studios at BWV or grand villas) - you call every day first thing in the morning when you are eligible to book a room (usually meaning at the 11 month window) to reserve that night's stay. (you do advise MS that you want to link the reservations to stay in the same room.)

the problem is if you wait till the end of the week to book all 7 (or however many) nights, the first night or two of the stay may already be booked up.

for many reservations, it is not necessary to book day-by-day. i booked a week at OKW in december at the end of the first week at 11 months out (and probably had no risk in waiting longer.) but for certain situations where demand is much greater than supply, you would be taking a risk to do that...

You've got it right.

Just let the MS know you need to link the days together. We do this almost all the time. A tiny hassle compared to finding out that you can't book the week you wanted. No guarantees of course, just greatly increasing your odds.

EDIT: BTW the 11/7 months is from the day you check out not the day you check in.

Looking forward to welcoming you home :thumbsup2
