Day before Disney Rituals

the only 'ritual' we have is saying a prayer for a safe trip right before we depart on our 18 hour car ride down :)
..oh, and i have a particual way of setting up blankets and pillows in the car each year, lol.

Sounds like we all pretty much have the same hustle and bustle day the day before! I forgot to include mine! I usually am all packed up at least a week before, so I take the car to get washed/cleaned, then gas up and my husband checks out all of the tires. That night I make sure the house is straight then we order pizza and watch tv. I'm always exhausted at the end of the day but way to excited to sleep! :)

Double checking "the LIST" ..... I start packing a week out, double checking the weather, getting the theme park box out and checking what needs to be replaced and what's good to go.
All the suitcases are line up and open on the guest room bed.
I go shopping, making sure that I have everything that we need and I mean everything for everyone. :thumbsup2

The night before I check everyone suitcase, which is a must! one year my youngest DD ( 15 at the time) packed 2 pairs of shorts and 15 shirts:confused:.

We get take out for dinner and watch a disney movie, then to bed.

Now that my family is grown-up... I will still make everyone come to our house and I will do the suitcases check... :rotfl:

My day before ritual is to usually freak out because I hate to fly and my husband insists on flying. :headache:

We catch the 1st NS flight out of PIT on SWA which is a crack of dawn affair. I make sure to pop a couple of benedryl the night before to get a few hours of sleep otherwise I'm tossing & turning like a kid the night before Christmas;) .

Hi, my next Disney trip is 21 days away! I can't wait! I pretty much do all the same things everyone else does but I also change my bedsheets the day before to my Disney sheets. I have a set of sheets with the whole gang on them, it makes me happy to have them on my bed the day before and it's the only time of year they get used. :goodvibes

Make sure we have food for our animals so daughter doesn't have to get some
Pack up the car except for laptops and meds.
Nothing really special as we drive from Miami

Like many of you, I am way to excited and cant sleep at all. As of now, i have 21 days until my first solo trip and ive been listening to DW music radio stations such as the ones on live365.com, I keep reading trip reports and researching what i should do first and how many times :p. Im almost having as much fun counting down the days than when i walk through the front gate. Whatever helps me transition from the real world and the world we live in.

SLEEP.

We try to sleep as much as possible to prepare for our departure around midnight for the 15-hour drive. Also, checking, checking and rechecking for everything, haha.

Besides all the normal stuff, my little sister and I watch Disney movies, watch youtube videos of rides that she think she might be scared to go on so that when we get there theres a better chance that she will, play Disney headbands, and look at old Disney pictures.

Of course we haven't quite done this ruitine yet considering she was 3 when we last went, but we will this summer! :)

I have two last-minute items, and my DH has one. I do any last minute laundry/dishes, and always make sure the house is spotless before we leave. I want to come back to a clean house.

DH unplugs the automatic garage door opener.

I'm with you on that! So refreshing to come home exhausted from a great trip and have a clean house.

We drive to Connettic'utt and spend the night at the hotel in the airport. My son loves to watch the planes take off and land. Hubby and I get the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, him the regular and me with lobster. Omg delicious!
:dumbo::tigger::goofy:

We go out to dinner. Then to relax before bed we have a glass or two of wine. Then its off to sleep. I remember last year I slept so well, which surprised me, that my husband had to wake me up and tell me to get ready to go to the airport. Normally I can't sleep or sleep very little the night before. So to have him wake me and tell me we were going to the airport took me by surprise and took a few minutes to register with me that we were going to Disney!

I dont sleep. I start watching Disney movies around 10pm and stay up until its time to leave for the airport.

I'm taking notes from all the tips on what to take and the night before rituals! Getting ready to go on 1/20/12!!

We do the same as pretty much all of you. We usually pack the car just before going to the airport since DH is not wanting our liquids to freeze. We usually leave the house at 4am. This past February we overslept and DH didnt lock the back door. My MIL was going too and came in and woke us up. As we were getting ready 2 drunk guys barged in (so scary to say the least). In the hurry to get out we forgot our stroller so had to rent one. This February we will pack everything the night before and lock up!:rolleyes1

I am always dying of excitement the day before leaving so I try to keep myself busy to make the time go by faster. I put off packing until that evening specifically so I'm focusing on that and not how slowly the minutes are ticking by. I run around like a chicken with my head cut off, but it works for me! I've not forgotten anything yet *knock on wood*.

For fun we always watch the Disney Planning DVD- this year because we are doing a Land/Sea we will watch both the Disney Planning DVD and the DCL Planning DVD! Order Pizza and get to bed early! Well, my DH and the kids get to bed early... I lay in bed all night watching the clock as it gets closer and closer until its time to wake everyone up and GO TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Dress up as Goofy and do what i can to scare the neighbors.
2. Light three candles beneath the Steamboat Mickey print as a way of inducing good luck
3. Put unwashed gym socks in each of the checked luggage bags to gross out the TSA inspector
4. Sign the loan agreement with Rumplestilkin Finance company to pay for the trip
5. Chant M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E while making three counterclockwise circles around the luggage stashed in the living room.
6. Pray to any god that will hear me to make sure the limo to the airport shows up on time.

My grandparents take our luggage with them, as they start driving to Florida several days ahead of us (they make a road trip out of it with a couple stops along the way), so we don't have to worry about packing anything, as it's already been done.

We make dinner at home because we'll be eating out for the next week. It's usually spaghetti. DS packs his toy bag, then it's bath and bed for him. I stay up, surf the DIS for last minute tips. I pack the kids' snacks for the airport/plane then I pack the laptop and anything else we didn't get into the luggage. Funny enough, for several trips in a row the Jon & Kate plus 8 episode when they went to WDW happened to be on TV as I was going to sleep, so I'd watch that. Now that they're not on re-runs anymore, I flip on one of our DVRed WDW shows and (try to) fall asleep.
